A great couple of days on the hill with @Western_Beacons. Thanks to @HMCoastguard @UKSAR_StAthan, for the helicopter support on day 2. Some challenging conditions but handled professionally by the fantastic volunteer team; you can donate via JustGiving.

British diplomat Sir Peter Marshall died in June this year. He finished his Foreign Office career as UK Permanent Representative in Geneva (1979-83) before becoming Deputy SG of the Commonwealth (1983-88).
Here are his ten precepts of diplomacy. 🧵
Love that book.
Just finished the excellent Sagittarius Rising by Cecil Lewis, about his service with the RFC in #WW1, and later exploits in China. A fabulous read for anyone interested the formative years of military aviation. #bookreviews #BookRecommendation #NonFiction #history

“Training is the single most important thing an Army can do with the time it can control," General Poppas of @USArmy told British soldiers and officers.

Great to spend some time with my old Air Cadet Sqn @579Sqn as they made their oath to the King. They are a truly impressive bunch.
An honour to be part of the @Western_Beacons memorial to ‘Nog’, who gave his life 40 years ago today. These teams put themselves in harms way, whenever the call comes - all on top of their days jobs and with no recompense. Humbling to be with this talented group.
Service at summit of Pen y Fan today to remember Mike Rudall, our Team Leader who made the ultimate sacrifice, his life whilst on a rescue 40 years ago today. @MountainResqUK

Fantastic to spend the weekend with @Western_Beacons and RAF Valley @raf_mrs, two incredibly professional teams worked together seamlessly. Also great to catch up with @A4FceElementsOC on the top of a windswept hill.
This weekend was our March training weekend, we organised a large joint exercise simulated aircraft crash, with search teams, medical treatment & the extraction of multiple casualties. Great to work with @raf_mrs #ValMRT @MCA_media @UKSAR_StAthan & @DyfedPowys POLSAs & Drone team
