Because we think Putin is bad and don’t want him to win his war of aggression against Ukraine. Musk and Trump do not share that view. And it’s an utter betrayal of everything America is supposed to stand for.

This is heartbreaking. From this senseless act in Bend to the daily toll of violence on our communities, we must do better for our children.
We need to pass gun safety laws now. Anyone who stands in the way is complicit.

With another school shooting, this time in Bend, Oregon, it might be a good time to point out that Bill Clinton’s assault weapons ban almost halved mass shooting deaths - but after George W Bush & Republicans let it expire, mass shooting deaths more than doubled. It’s the guns.

Three little kids and a teacher were shot and killed at their school today in Bend, Oregon. Two more were injured.
Our hearts are broken and we’re angry. It’s disgraceful that extremists keep blocking critical, lifesaving laws while kids die in their classrooms.
America can do better. It must.

Hi Trump,
Greenlandic citizen here.
Just so we’re clear:
Greenland has some of the strictest environmental and regulatory requirements for mineral exploration and extraction.
No foreign government or company can simply enter Greenland and start drilling or extracting our natural resources without the necessary approvals from Greenlandic authorities.
Greenland’s natural resources are governed by Greenlandic laws, not by announcements from the President of the United States.
Greenland decides. Not Washington.
Most Americans think Donald Trump is profiting off the presidency in unethical or illegal ways and is focused more on his wealth than helping people like them, a new AP-NORC poll finds. to.pbs.org/4zx8nax

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. We have essentially a non-existent shipbuilding industry…
I’m all for this shipyard and rebuilding the industry, it’s critical. But keep your head down and stop taking victory laps like this is something more than a first step.

🇺🇸⚔️💰 Rust Fleet, $40 Trillion Debt: Trump Wants to Rebuild the US Navy on Credit
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is promising to reverse decades of American naval decline with a vast new shipbuilding programme, but the strategy confronts an uncomfortable reality: Washington wants to finance a new era of military expansion while already carrying more than $40 trillion in national debt.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth presented the proposed “Golden Fleet” as nothing less than a rejection of managed American decline.
“Trump rejects the globalist, defeatist status quo of decline, that America is just going to become like any other nation,” Hegseth declared, arguing that “peace through strength requires military power, it requires naval power.”
The administration plans to build 25 new Navy ships and establish what it describes as the largest new American shipyard since the Second World War. The vessels are expected to incorporate advanced weapons, including hypersonic missiles and high-powered lasers.
But Washington is attempting to rebuild a fleet after decades of industrial erosion.
American shipyards face ageing infrastructure, skilled-labour shortages, construction delays and huge maintenance backlogs. Existing programmes have repeatedly suffered cost overruns and schedule slippages, while China has developed a shipbuilding industrial base capable of producing vessels at a pace the United States currently struggles to match.
The result is a striking contradiction: America wants a Golden Fleet while parts of its naval industrial base increasingly resemble a rust fleet.
Then comes the bill.
With federal debt above $40 trillion, large-scale naval expansion ultimately means adding military commitments to a government already heavily dependent on borrowing.
Trump's answer is growth.
Asked how the United States can finance ambitious programmes while carrying such enormous debt, the president argued that “tremendous growth” could eventually overcome America's fiscal burden.
That amounts to a huge economic wager.
Economic growth can increase federal revenues and reduce debt relative to GDP, but it does not make shipyards, warships or weapons free. Unless spending is cut elsewhere or taxes generate substantially more revenue, Washington will continue borrowing.
The strategic argument for rebuilding American naval power may be formidable. The financial arithmetic is considerably less reassuring.
“Peace through strength” sounds powerful from a podium. But if that strength is increasingly purchased with borrowed money, America risks constructing its next fleet on top of an already mountainous national credit card bill.
