its 1:15am. i can hear the rain on the window. thunder is far away, it sounds like a big dog growling in its sleep.
and it gives me this childhood feeling of knowing that no matter what we're going to be okay because our feet are under the covers and nothing can hurt us.

I need a favor. Working on a talk, and I'm trying to find photos of this old Instagram logo as a sticker. If you walk past a bodega or any other random store and spot it, please snap a quick photo and send it as a reply here 🙏🏻
In France, we love our acronyms. It's like administratively screaming at people.
TGV, EHPAD, CHU, QVCT, CPH, CNIL, RGPD, DUERP, PUMA (this one sounds cool), PEA (🫛), BPI, URSSAF (this one looks and sounds scary…)
i've been advocating for remote work for years, and i'll keep defending people's right to choose where they live for reasons that have nothing to do with their job.
but i'm currently completely burnt out, and having my office at home has made resting and recovering much harder than i expected.
a friend (who will recognize himself) suggested moving my desk somewhere else in my apartment. we did, and it helped a little. but it hasn't solved the real issue.
i need to acknowledge something: when home becomes your workplace, boundaries can get dangerously blurred.
mine have blurred so much over the past few months that, even though i'm currently on leave, i feel anxious about leaving my apartment even tho i was advised to try and get fresh air.
i'm sharing this because i've spent years talking about the positive sides of remote work. it's only fair to be also transparent about the negative sides.
i still believe in remote work. i just now realize how difficult it can be to reclaim your home as a place of rest when work has taken over so much of it.
it's almost midnight. there is a huge cricket in my living room. i can't catch it. my cat refuses to approach it. AI can't help.

If you can write CSS, you can write GSS { ● }
I've been dreaming of this for years: a language to build 3D scenes like you write CSS. Selectors, cascade, :hover, keyframes… compiled to one GPU shader.
Meet GSS: GPU Style Sheets.

I used to make fun of people with Stanley cups.
but as someone who's had more kidney stones than a snowglobe has snowflakes, I'll admit: these things are useful.
I'm drinking more water.
visited the place I used to love dearly today and my actual reaction was:
"what in the vibe coding shit is this?!"
building management sent an email this morning. there are 78 replies, all (badly attempting) to schedule a meeting.
everyone says they can't make the proposed time because of some random reason.
my favorite is someone who has a kitten vaccination appointment.
very tempted to jump in and ask for a picture of the kitten.
2yo didn't want to leave for daycare this morning because she had forgotten to put something in her bag. Took us a few minutes to decipher what she was missing: a wallet with a card to buy croissants.

first extreme alert i've ever gotten... well HEARD because those are freaking loud. omg are they trying to give people hearth attacks?!
