ALT Today marks the 20th anniversary of the October Storm of 2006. Over a foot of snow fell across the Buffalo metro area with close to 2 feet falling across the neighborhoods to the east of Buffalo. See the map for more details on how much snow fell and where.
ALT The October Storm of 2006 wreaked havoc across much of the Buffalo area and surrounding neighborhoods and to this day can be considered as one of the most damaging storms that hit Buffalo.
ALT From this storm WNY residents learned first hand that leaves and snow don’t mix. There was over 150 million dollars in storm damage, over 3 million cubic yards of debris and 90% of trees were damaged.
ALT To this day the 22.6 inches that fell at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport remains as the highest amount of snowfall in a 24 hour period in the month of October.
