Yesterday, 28th September, after paying a courtesy call on His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, we had a very engaging Town Hall with the people of Sokoto. It was an opportunity to listen, answer questions, and speak honestly about the Nigeria we want to build together.
The questions were clear: unity, security, education, subsidy, healthcare, corruption, poverty, agriculture, power, infrastructure, ethnicity, and the future of our country.
Our message was equally clear: there will be no fake promises. We must unite the country and confront insecurity decisively, while also addressing human insecurity. We must fight poverty, unemployment, hunger, and hopelessness if we are to reduce criminality and create a safer society.
We discussed money politics and its devastating consequences. When poverty becomes the instrument through which politicians buy votes, citizens are trapped in a cycle where the same system that impoverishes them is repeatedly rewarded. We must break this cycle of bad leadership driven by transactional politics.
The work ahead is enormous. But with courage, competence, compassion, character, and the collective determination of Nigerians, we can begin to change the story.

NDC Presidential Candidate, H.E Peter Obi, and NDC Vice Presidential Candidate, H.E Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, in Sokoto.
The visit provided an opportunity for the NDC candidates to engage with the Sultan and appreciate him for the warm reception.
A moment of respect, dialogue and unity.

. Public-Private Partnership arrangements for infrastructure provision were very few.
. The state was not achieving maximal water reticulation and would therefore
require further re-evaluation of the present design, including the use of solar powered systems.

On the flip side, the team observed some challenges too:
• The Public Procurement and Fiscal Responsibility Bills had not been finalised
during the visit and the Team urged the State to hasten action on these bills. They had undergone 2nd readings at the State House of Assembly.

6. Governance in Anambra State is demand - driven, targeted at alleviating the hardship previously experienced by the people. Since the state is one of those with a comparatively low revenue base, the governor runs a very slim government.

5. Libraries in 174 secondary schools have also been renovated and equipped.

4. Provision of infrastructure and
facilities for schools. Over 100 schools have benefited from the state Govt's lab rehabilitation and equipment programme, entailing renovation of school labs and increased supply of science and computing
equipment and instructional materials.

THE NIGER BRIDGE DEBATE!
I am not an engineer, but a member of Nigeria's attentive public and a public policy analyst. In that context, I join the debate about the choice of demarcation being introduced by the FGN on the First Niger Bridge between Onitsha and Asaba. I'm a frequent user of that bridge and has been since 1967.
Even with the best of intentions the demarcation/delineators introduced on the bridge is not right for FOUR (4) reasons, which ought to have been obvious and commonsensical:
First, the concrete demarcator adds additional weight to a very old bridge thereby increasing the stress factors and fatigue on the bridge;
Second, the concrete demarcator further increases the chances of catasthrophic failure of the bridge arising from unforseen deadweight overload in the event of a vehicular accident, breakdown or fire on the bridge;
Third, the concrete demarcator constricts the already narrow space on the bridge; allows for no egress and will definitely impede the arrival of towing or emergency vehicles or general evacuation during an accident or fire emergency. These facts makes the bridge a cerfified death trap.
Fourth, The demarcator will most likely increase the lenght of time it takes to cross the bridge span during routine and high traffic or rush hour periods.
In other climes, durable co-extruded, polyethylene impact-resistant delinators are used as lane line demarcators on bridges and turnnels, with the highest safety standards in mind and for effective traffic and vehicular movement control. Our situation should not be any different.
Introducing the concrete demacator on the First Niger Bridge is a bad public policy decision and the consequences will be acknowledged sooner or later. Put bluntly, it might result in needless fatalities. If the proper assessments were made, and not strictly political campaign decisions, an alternative form of demarcators should have been considered. I bet those would also be cheaper.
As things stand, the new demarcators are not and cannot be described as being in the overiding public interest. It will take only one serious nasty accident to prove that the introduction will in the short, medium and long term not be in the best public interest. When that happens let us remember those who are directly or vicariously liable.
I pray that I am wrong.

Peter Obi is right. Nigerians are being denied visas because the vast majority are poor.
You are not the most fraudulent country in the world, you are not the leader in cyberfraud either. You just have a bunch of horrible rulers.
You are not even on the top three list of drug-peddling countries. You are just too loud as a people. Most of us lack situational awareness.
We like to show off & make some noise. Then we overstay our visas because what’s the alternative? Approximately 5% Nigerians have more than ₦500,000 in their bank accounts.
In real terms, that’s about 12 million Nigerians out of a population of roughly 240 million.
That is why they request proof of funds when you apply for visas; in most cases, they want to know if you are among the lucky 12 million.
163 million Nigerians live below the poverty line. Almost everything is stacked against Nigerians.
Passport ranking is determined by economic strength, particularly purchasing power. No country likes it when you overstay your visa.
I just like the way he explains these things with a simple analogy. Once prosperity is built for all, Nigerians will only go abroad for vacations.

Upon our arrival in Sokoto today, I had the honour of accompanying our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Royal Eminence Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, CFR.

Today, ahead of our town-hall engagements in Sokoto, Sokoto State, I had the privilege of paying a courtesy visit to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, alongside my brother and running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and members of our team.
We used the opportunity of the visit to condole with him on the recent death of the Sardauna of Sokoto.
In my remarks, I emphasised the urgent need to unite and secure our nation, tackle poverty, create employment, and rebuild confidence in our country.
His Eminence warmly received us and spoke with the wisdom of a father and national leader. He recalled that he has known me for almost 46 years, since 1980, when I was in my first year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and has maintained a cordial relationship since then.
He reminded us that leadership comes from Almighty Allah and carries a responsibility for which we will ultimately be held accountable. He also mentioned three critical priorities for Nigeria: security, poverty, and employment.
He additionally reminded us that our diversity of tribes, tongues, and faiths is part of God's creation and should be our strength, not our weakness. We do not seek to Islamise or Christianise anyone. We seek to build a Nigeria where every citizen can live safely, prosper, and have a genuine sense of belonging.
May Almighty God continue to bless His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, the people of Sokoto State, and our beloved Nigeria.
