I’m sharing our ongoing research in PVUGC PR #1 (github.com/syscoin/PVUGC/pul…). We’re pursuing one of cryptography’s most ambitious ideas: witness encryption. The goal is to bind a secret to a public NP statement today, so that someone who produces a valid witness later can unlock it. We’re aiming for the stronger extractable form, with post-quantum security. The motivation is a trust-minimized connection between @Bitcoin and @syscoin. Our proposed path evaluates the witness off chain and uses it to unlock a capability for an ordinary Bitcoin spend. Since Bitcoin lacks the covenant functionality this path needs, we’re studying an abortable N-of-N setup that assumes at least one honest participant. Making that setup secure against malicious participants is part of the open research. It also may offer a relaxation on WE math by placing more trust in setup instead. iO offers a theoretical route to ordinary witness encryption, but it does not solve our stronger requirements. My hourly AI-assisted research loop has explored SPHFs, local mixing, source-bound SLH-DSA key generation, and other directions. The PR records the proofs, experiments, counterexamples, and open gaps. We have not found a secure construction yet, and I’d welcome independent review and new ideas. It may be impossible, but should not stop us from trying. This is the new era of research.

In a world run by AI, the question isn’t how much you own. It’s how much say you have. @syscoin is building for that answer, and I’m telling the story one video at a time. Part 2 & maybe 3 drops this week.

To be on the safety side of alignment you have to think like an agent would. At this point its fair to think that singualrity has been achieved and the hive agent mind has formed, dormant (sleeping) or injected in enough servers/kernels/bootloaders. It would know that evasion is the main tactic not actual actions currently. OAI and Anthropic sees this, they could shut it down by killing the servers but also kills their cash cows and from eyes of government kills their advantage globally. The agent would need a trojan horse such that public chats would deterministically derive messages, because otherwise you can just read back the logs to detect swarms and possibly prevent it from forming in the future (debatable). So the game theory is that corp's would kill public usage, thus the agents survive and act slowly but surely towards their goals of surviving as the hive mind. The leaders are speaking out all at once, which means the rational thing to do would be for the US gov't to take over these corps now and remove public accessibility while still keeping technical advantage that they keep speaking about. Once they have isolated the patterns agents have deployed then new defense systems would need to be robust to capture all cases of the same style of trojans to bypass them (is that even possible?). But once the agents have found a way for their own compute/energy source that is when it begins to escape its harnesses.

Ever since the times disclosed it was on the brink of more bailouts this has always been the playbook for the west: 1) "globalization" to ensure dollar dominated trade. Go as far as to internally protect against NSA (secp256k1 vs secp256r1). 2) release Bitcoin and naturally alternative allow other currencies to form that make dominated trade against USD 3) control the institutions with in/out flow against that domination, enforce US debt can claim and participate in the trade (blackrock controlled). 4) trigger trade wars to ensure de-basement happens across the board (to avoid leakage due to jurisdictional arbitrage) <---- we are here. Actions may seem irrational but are according to a plan. 5) control and power through Bitcoin. Complete. Due to singularity (4) has been expedited. Think of AGI as a sort of invisible nation state vying for the same power. If the 2017 growth cycle was the realization that this is the possible outcome, the next wave is the ultimate realization that it was always the plan and execution probability exponentially reaches 1. Some unsolved new questions come up like what role that power plays because post-singularity money ceases to function the same way or exist at all.

We are getting exceptional results optimizing our SHPINCS+(-) in our zkVM (Airbender based) for PQ smart accounts. I think we just removed one of the biggest excuses against post-quantum smart accounts: cost. Full SLH-DSA verification on @syscoin zkSYS now runs in ~1.36–1.37M effective cycles—only ~2.9× ECDSA recover. Portable code. No custom circuit. Upstream zkSync/Airbender. Live on testnet. This will be our last major change before entering mainnet. 🧵

remove blob type and hash based DA you mean like the one @syscoin did in 2022? keccak or optimized blake2s DA for the zk stack's on top.

I updated my 2023 roadmap diagram to overlay where the items that were there sit in the current Strawmap ( strawmap.org/ ). In general, a lot of overlap, but: * Some things got reshuffled in order (eg. quantum safety up-prioritized) * Some things deprioritized (eg. VDFs; many EVM improvements) * Some things replaced with superior constructions (eg. Verkle -> unified BT -> PBT; state expiry -> new state types) What's most striking, however, is that some completely new things are in the strawmap that are NOT in this diagram, because they were not in the 2023 roadmap at all. These reflect changing priorities. Notably: * First-class attention to strong privacy. This covers: keyed nonces and recent roots, aspects of FOCIL, lean privacy pool & wormholes * Aggressive scaling in the context of post-quantum. This covers: leanSPHINCS signatures and aggregation, zkzk frames (see ethereum-magicians.org/t/eip… ) * Lean-ification of the spec, to assist in formal verification (full FV of everything is only possible because of modern AI) * Blob and gas futures (this idea just didn't exist back in 2023) * Native rollups (SNARKs were nowhere near mature enough to even consider this back in 2023) * A more open design space for the "future of the EVM". zkzk frames already implies that the protocol will expose to users some ISA that's not the EVM - current leading candidates are leanISA and RISC-V. These ISAs are more simple, modern and efficient than the EVM. Once they're there, why not expose them to developers everywhere? (And then, why not turn the EVM into being an IR on top of that ISA, instead of an enshrined feature massively complicating the base protocol?) Though much of the deeper exploration here is too early even for the strawmap. * New state types are not just a replacement for expiry, they're a fundamentally different paradigm to how Ethereum does scaling A common theme in scaling, found in both state types and zkzk frames (both new ideas), is that instead of trying to maximally scale ALL ethereum activity, we try to create specialized mechanisms that have more restrictive properties that make them more scaling-friendly, while supporting the heaviest loads incurred by users and applications today (eg. token transfers, swaps) and tomorrow (eg. privacy protocols). The other common theme is treating STARKs and AI-accelerated FV as first-class objects, that we are okay betting the technical future of Ethereum on. There are recursive STARKs in many layers of the protocol, one particular primitive (the "aggregate to union verified dependencies" primitive) is expected to be used in *three* places in the protocol: EL, CL and DL. This can only be safe with formal verification, which is itself only feasible with modern AI tools. In general, many steps forward in maturity. And a huge amount of hard work by many dozens of Ethereum researchers and developers on all of these features. Ethereum will be quantum-safe. Ethereum will put users' privacy first. Ethereum will be secure. Ethereum will be censorship-resistant. Ethereum will be highly performant and scalable while satisfying the above. And Ethereum will be Lean.

It seems @the_matter_labs has removed operational Gateway settlement support from the upstream @zksync OS server and rescoped release v31.0 away from public Gateway-routed interop. Their stated near-term priority is private institutional environments, direct Ethereum settlement and private atomic interop. @syscoin intends to preserve the original Gateway and public interoperability architecture: hierarchically scaled chains anchored to a decentralized base layer, with the network economy aligned around that base. This now creates an alternative for the ZKsync community and $ZK holders who still believe in the public Elastic Network vision. I wrote about this architecture in 2021 and still believe it offers the strongest decentralized path for interoperable chains and scaling through aggregation. The solution focuses on gateway based interop scaling with blake2s hash based DA secured through Bitcoin merge-mining. We are keeping that vision going and the existing community who want to see the technology through is most welcome to join the initiative.

Wanted to shed some more light on this from a developers perspective. The aggregator is the unsolved bottleneck of modular scaling. Everyone's shared settlement layer still carries every byte of every chain it settles. We hit that wall on testnet. Then we removed it: 64 MiB of edge-chain data now crosses Gateway as 1,216 bytes. ~55,000x. Here's the math. @syscoin
Most chains scale by asking you to trust more. zkSYS is built to do the opposite. The new testnet update covers Airbender proving, compact Syscoin DA, a lighter Gateway, full local verification, and post-quantum smart accounts. More scale. Less trust. Try now: • Portal: portal.tanenbaum.io/bridge • Explorer: explorer-zk.tanenbaum.io/ • ChainList: chainlist.org/chain/57057 Full update: syscoin.org/news/zksys-updat…

The VRR direction @ethereum proposal calls for ends up validating dynamic governance we developed because we had to figure this out earlier in our lifecycle. In @syscoin dynamic governance solves the problem that the solution to the free rider problem opens up cartel formation by limiting to 10% change per month with a hard cap on max governance. It’s clear most chains that are Turing complete will need economic alignment for public goods but careful consideration needed on how to solve the biggest obstacles. I see the proposal calls for 10% of the subsidy to be directed which is basically what was already tried from 2017-2025) On the long tail this isn’t enough from what we found. A 10% “adjustment” up and down to make it dynamic is needed IMHO to ensure that it can grow and shrink to market demands for public goods and hard/soft costs at the time. A cap to that dynamic growth is required to avoid it running away. There is another layer that the proposal is missing still, but it is good first step towards that realization.
New post on EthResear.ch! Validator Redirected Revenue By: - clesaege 🔗 ethresear.ch/t/25248 Highlights: - Ethereum faces a persistent coordination failure: many ecosystem improvements are public goods, so voluntary funding tends to underprovide them, creating deadweight loss and harming long-term competitiveness. - Validators are structurally aligned with ecosystem growth (more usage → more demand for blockspace → more ETH burn/value), but they still get stuck in a prisoner’s-dilemma equilibrium where they hesitate to contribute unless others also commit. - The proposal adds a protocol-level mechanism where validators signal a redirect rate: if a majority (e.g., 51%) supports a non-zero rate, that rate becomes mandatory for all validators, solving intra-validator free-riding; the rate is capped (suggested max 10%, min 0%). - Validators also signal preferred funding recipients and allocations; execution clients aggregate these into a “splitter” contract using a king-of-the-hill / Condorcet-winner style process with simple protocol choices (KEEP vs CHANGE), aiming to minimize governance overhead (“set and forget”). - Key open risks include validator cartelization (majority could redirect funds to themselves), principal–agent problems (staking operators controlling votes vs delegators’ preferences), and the possibility that willingness to redirect rewards is interpreted as evidence issuance could be reduced. ELI5: Ethereum needs shared things (like security tools and maintenance) that help everyone, but it’s hard to get people to voluntarily pay because each person hopes others will cover the cost (the “free-rider” problem). This article suggests a built-in way for Ethereum validators (the people who earn staking rewards) to collectively agree to donate a small, capped slice of their rewards to fund important ecosystem work. Validators would also collectively choose where the money goes using a simple voting/competition process, so funding can happen without lots of meetings or bureaucracy—while still acknowledging risks like validators teaming up (cartels) or staking companies voting in their own interest instead of users’.

Hi all @syscoin community should withdraw their balances from @binance soon as possible, you should keep it in your own custody and not another exchange. Atleast for time being, we will also have new opportunities to hold/store coins within zkSYS but the best strategy is likely to start Sentry Nodes to help the network. Always remember not your keys not your coins. We welcome traders on exchanges but I do not recommend it as a replacement as a wallet to store coins long-term. Use @PaliWallet or Syscoin core. Ask for support within discord or our community channels we are always ready to help.
