Brexit was not a failure. The British people were right to separate themselves from the European Socialist bureaucracy for cultural reasons as well as to protect themselves from radical globalist agendas, even if economically it was a net loss, which it wasn’t. Brexit has only failed to deliver its promise because the political class running the country didn’t agree with it and have worked diligently to thwart it at every turn, squarely against the will of the people. Read your article today in the nypost re VP Vance. It really just comes off as knee jerk defense of Israel no matter what is true or false. First you attempt to excoriate Vance for stating that Israel is trying to influence the American public and prolong the war with Iran. That’s odd for you to argue that, given both of those observations by Vance are obviously true. Israel has tried to influence public opinion in the US for decades spending billions in lobbying Congress, and this is common knowledge. It’s hardly Vance conjuring up some fake criticism of Israel as you suggest. It’s also completely obvious that Israel would in fact like to continue the war with Iran until the regime is toppled. And even a casual observer such as myself noted several weeks ago that it appeared that Israel was trying to upset the deal. They clearly are opposed to any deal that leaves the regime in tact. You can argue whether that’s a good or bad position, but not that it isn’t Israels position. Again Vance was stating the truth. As for his assertion that Epstein was a Mossad resource which you again attempt to excoriate him for saying, I suspect that the vice president has access to far more information on this topic than you do, or ever will. Vance certainly isn’t the only one to harbor that suspicion and frankly there is evidence publicly available to suggest it’s a strong possibility. For you to summarily discount and disparage his comments as conspiracy theory when in fact you have less information to go on than he does, is just bush league stuff and usually what we see from the left wing media. Neither you or I (or the public in general) know if it’s true or not, the info hasn’t been revealed to us. But one thing I can say, is that Vance is surely in a better position than you to have some insight on it, and there is zero reason for him to be dishonest about it. That raises another problem with your story. That is that you don’t identify any possible motivation for Vance to be dishonest about these things. Why would he? It gains him nothing. That leaves what you again imply, that he is simply anti Israel, which there is zero evidence to believe. This article simply reveals Michael Goodwin as an unobjective reporter who blindly defends Israel from any perceived attack, even when justified. To be clear, I’m a conservative and I support Israel. But that doesn’t go so far as to think Israel can do no wrong. I support Israel, but unlike you, I will remain objective and call them out when deserved, which is simply what Vance did. Read your article re “gerontology goes deeper” @connorokeeffe. Good article, although I disagree with one point. You stated that young people today are paying for baby boomers social security checks. That’s not really correct. As you can probably guess I’m retired and drawing social security. The fact is I contributed my entire working life to social security, outraged many times at the large amounts of various deductions taken out of my check before I ever saw a dime. Just because politicians rerouted my contributions in a way not intended, doesn’t mean I didn’t make them. As you should know each generation does pay for the previous generation through payroll taxes and that’s actually how it was designed. But at the end of the day every person receiving a check did in fact pay in to the system their entire working career. So, technically yeah, today’s younger workers are funding the checks of retirees. However that will also be the case when they retire, with younger workers supporting their checks, unless of course it becomes insolvent. So in reality everyone pays in, and everyone takes out, and as you also should know, the amount you draw is based on the amount you paid in over your career. In your article you imply that the younger generation is somehow getting hosed for having to fund us current retirees. That is simply not the case. They are paying in to the system just like my generation did when we were young and they will be paid out in the future just like us, unless Congress bankrupts the system by abusing it. This is very possible, but it’s not my generation’s fault if that happens, nor does it indicate anything wrong with the system, other than just another program Congress managed to screw up.
