T-6️⃣ days until launch!
DYK? Smile will observe the northern lights non-stop for 45 hours at a time for the first time ever.
This will give us a better idea of how geomagnetic storms lead to auroras, but also of other consequences on our infrastructure 👉 esa.int/Science_Exploration/…

T-7️⃣ days until the Smile launch!
DYK? Smile will make the first-ever X-ray observations of Earth’s magnetic field.
This will give us a completely different, and much bigger, picture of Earth’s defence against the Sun.

Congratulations to our new PhD, Mario Cobos Maestre! His models to forecast solar wind set the state of the art. Great defence at @UAHes
We were contributing with 5 talks and many interesting discussions during coffee breaks and lunch time. Thank you @esaspaceweather for organising!!
🥳A successful workshop with lots of discussions on various subjects concerning #SpaceWeather, development & future service improvements, and more....
😍The onsite participants at @esa SWE Service Network Workshop group photo!
❤️A big thank you to all the participants and the organisers!
And the Sun has also fireworks today... This will be the first CME reaching the Earth in 2026. Happy New Year 2026!
At #AGU25 we have an invited presentation to celebrate the 50 years of Burton equation. Well done Armando!!
