Delighted to share this conversation with the extraordinary @barryoreilly. We dive into learnings from experiences in the early years of Google in Ireland, the approach of 'middle-child' leadership, what I have learned in working with designers.. and much more besides #unlearn
Authenticity is about being yourself

Three stages of thinking:
1. Too simplistic.
2. Too complicated.
3. Simple (reduction of complexity to what’s essential).

Amazing: A @PulitzerPrizes special citation for Darnella Frazier, the young person whose video of George Floyd's death shook the conscience of the nation and the world. pulitzer.org/
One of the most valuable things I’ve read this year. Read it slowly + then forward it to a few people you care about. Companies can and should do more to design guardrails around work, not just put it on individual’s boundaries.
People are burned out. Summer is coming. We need to acknowledge the difficulties of the last 15 months and blow off steam and recharge. We also can’t go back to ‘normal’ work life. I humbly propose an (employer facilitated) ‘Summer Slowdown’ warzel.substack.com/p/its-ti…

Just watched #ShivaBaby. Truly unique piece of work, reminds me of discovering The Daytrippers as a teenager. Steaming now as VoD. Congratulations to the creator, actors + all involved @DiannaAgron 👏

3 powerful questions that have served me well since I recently learned them from Jerry Colonna (who learned them from his therapist):
- What am I not saying that needs to be said?
- What am I saying that's not being heard?
- What's being said that I'm not hearing?
Trying to have a chill test of Clubhouse with the sisters in Navan & Berlin. Irish Mammy in her 70s notices, hijacks iPhone: "why would I be wasting my ears on that: get ye on to zoom!" So much for new platforms! Reminded of the wisdom of @HelenORahilly
