Can we please stop the practice of clapping in the middle of every LBCT? It makes sense for something like COAPT, with so much effort and surprisingly/strikingly positive results. Meeting a NI endpoint with a wide margin shouldn’t cause eruption in applause. Just clap at the end.
One of the most fun things I did in 2025. I was so excited to be a part of this Case Record of the MGH and the Shared Decision Making Forum. And meeting this patient who lived life to the utmost was a true honor. ❤️ @mghsdm
Case Record of the Massachusetts General Hospital (@MassGeneralNews): A 93-year-old woman was evaluated by her primary care physician because of dyspnea. She had a history of aortic stenosis and atrial fibrillation and flutter. A diagnosis was made. Read the full case details: nej.md/4nnSjSb

I am saddened to learn about President Biden’s diagnosis of what seems to be metastatic prostate cancer. However, let’s please get away with the “fighter” metaphor. It’s harmful. This “fight” metaphor leads to excessive and harmful care. And choosing a treatment that prioritizes quality of life is not being “not a fighter” or giving up. If you want to read more about this, see the links in the next post.

1. Low KCCQ scores are associated with increased risk of HFH and death; improvements in scores reduce that risk.
2. That does NOT mean the KCCQ is a surrogate marker. Or that it is only an important outcome to measure because of this prognostic association.
