If you're a business or artist with intellectual property, watch the clock.
10 days until Meta claims the right to scrape your website to develop its AI. Your consent? Apparently unnecessary. All it takes is someone sharing a link on Facebook or Instagram - or you using Meta's services.

Jeff Bezos says Amazon's 30,000 corporate cuts came from pandemic overhiring. Not AI.
One year ago this week, Amazon's own robotics strategy documents leaked: automate 75% of operations, avoid hiring 160,000 US workers by 2027 and 600,000+ by 2033, all to save about 30 cents an item.
I’m sorry Jeff… I don’t buy the story that you are still dealing with pandemic over hiring . The COVID overhiring unwind finished a long time ago. What's happening now is structural, and the workforce data has been saying so for a year+.
HOLY!
Amazon is eliminating 600,000 future US jobs.
In a net job destroyer.... The leaked plan states it will replace 600,000 US workers with robots to save 30¢ per item.
And the current automation push targets 75% of operations, to DESTROY 160,000 roles by 2027 - just 3 years from now.
And they’re rebranding it as “advanced technology” so the public doesn’t panic.
Call it what it is.... engineered obsolescence.

Is that their argument? Really?
Is that really Microsoft’s defense?
Brad Smith says most visa applications were for people who’ve worked there for years.
And? How many of the 6,000 laid-off employees had worked there for years?
He also says Microsoft hired 9,200 Americans. Fine. How many are still there?
Show us the hiring, layoffs, job functions and tenure side by side.
Renewals don’t prove replacement. But they don’t answer the workforce question either.
The numbers are trackable. Let’s see them. I’ll pull them if I need to.
"What was presented as Microsoft replacing 6,000 people who lost their jobs with 9,000 foreigners was, frankly, completely off-base."
Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, gave his response to @BrendanBordelon about the Trump administration's claim that Microsoft was engaged in fraud when it applied for permanent residency for foreign workers.

The problem with the antitrust laws is that, over time, they were interpreted solely to be about market power and consumer welfare, and not about economic power and concomitant political power. We need to rethink this, and fast.
Replying to @BillKristol
The antitrust laws exist for a reason.
But this can't be limited to tech only, this time.
Energy, media and even some large investment fund have enough political power to disable free functioning markets. Democratic oversight and hence democracy itself is their enemy.
OMG!!!
'Red Rising' movie is in the works at Paramount

• The sci-fi story follows a young miner on Mars who infiltrates the ruling class in an attempt to overthrow its oppressive social hierarchy

%$&*!!! whoa.
This reads that Meta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - once a company uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services after October 30, 2026. So every biz.
Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.
Nicolas Cage says he’s “probably not” working with Amazon again after refusing to sign an AI waiver for #SpiderNoir:
“Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of $50 billion invested in OpenAI,” Cage said at #NYCC. “I am not an AI-friendly actor, so it’s like, connect those dots! I’m not a member of their club. I didn’t sign the waiver to let him use AI on ‘Spider Noir.’ I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again, but that’s okay.”

Yesterday’s ICE shooting in the Bronx feels like a strategy: reckless federal agents spark unrest, local leaders have to manage the fallout, and then DHS uses that crisis to deploy law enforcement to poll sites.
Escalation, chaos, and terror—all by design.

Why are National Guard troops in Washington D.C standing in front of a ballot drop box like they’re guarding it! This seems like it would be against 18 US code 592 which makes it a federal crime for any Military officer to be at any general or special Election polling place & ballot box.
