पूरी रिपोर्ट पढ़ें - hindi.downtoearth.org.in/wil…

India has 9 species of kraits, and 6 of them are found in northeast India. But we use venom from only one of them to develop the polyvalent antivenom in India along representatives of cobras and vipers. The assumption is that venom all the krait species are similar enough. 1/2

It is extremely satisfying to see Rajasthan's state bird, the Great Indian Bustard, return today to the open skies and natural habitat of the Desert National Park. For me personally, it is a moment of immense pride. In 2013, our government took the resolve to save the Great Indian Bustard, which had reached the brink of extinction, and launched the 'Project Great Indian Bustard'. I remember visiting the Desert National Park with Forest Department officials in 2013, when serious efforts for the conservation of the Great Indian Bustard were initiated. Taking this vision forward, in 2019, during our Congress government, the country's first Great Indian Bustard captive breeding centre was established at Sam in Jaisalmer, which I also personally visited. Today, the positive result of that farsighted approach, strong policies, and years of tireless efforts by our Forest Department and scientists is that 94 Great Indian Bustards are safely housed at the breeding centre, and today, two of them have been 'soft-released' into their natural habitat. On this historic day for Great Indian Bustard conservation, my heartfelt congratulations to all the people of Rajasthan, the Forest Department team, and wildlife enthusiasts.

Sometimes we get our conservation policies right ! Absolute delight to see the Great Indian Bustard take to the skies ! Now we must convince #renewable energy projects to take their wires underground so the habitat is safe !
As they released the Great Indian Bustards into the wild in Rajasthan’s Sam, Desert National Park, saw Dr Sutirtha Dutta, Dr Tushna Karkariya, and Hrishika Sharma got all emotional. One can only imagine how some dedicate their entire lives to selfless causes. No words of praise are enough for them and the entire team that has made it possible. #IndiaRewildsGIB

This is the most insane cancer story I've ever read. A Croatian virologist's breast cancer beat surgery and chemo, came back at stage 3B and started eating into her muscle. She decided to cure her own cancer with an insane method. And she did it successfully: (1/17)

There are fewer than 100 Great Indian Bustards in the wild, in #India . Captive Breeding has no meaning unless their natural habitat is conserved, protected. Where will the #birds be released? Or is the breeding exercise just a cosmetic measure for show.
