We frequently see Leftists (like @ZackPolanski or @BernieSanders ) whining about wealth distribution but as anybody who has started a business knows, the important thing is growing the size of the pie, not what your proportion is. Would you rather own 50% of a £1 million company or 1% of a £1 billion company? Try and equalise wealth distribution and all that happens is the pie doesn’t grow. Nobody is struggling because someone else is a billionaire. You are struggling because endless government intervention (and the corrupt cronyism it breeds) is a massive drag on growing the size of the pie.

Notice: ‘hero’ is in quotation marks. Probably written by a social sciences graduate who was taught there's no black&white, no absolutes, and everything is relative. “Sure, he saved 180 lives facing tough odds… but what is a ‘hero’ anyway? And who says so?” (Foucauldian smirk)

I sincerely apologise. I misread the term ‘butterfly’ (butter + fly), wrongly inferring that the word butterfly originally meant a fly made of butter. In fact it was coined specifically to denote a particular insect. Now, please do register for my ongoing lectures on entomology as part of my UN Special Rapporteur role in this regard.

Okay, like you’re five: Your rent is your expense, so cutting your spending can help you afford it. Your wage is someone else’s expense, and it depends on what your labor is worth to them, not how many yachts their CEO owns. Selling a yacht can fund payroll once. It doesn’t make your job permanently more productive. If your labor is worth more elsewhere, sell it elsewhere. If it isn’t, confiscating someone’s yacht doesn’t change that. The mistake is treating wages as an allowance determined by how rich the owner is rather than a price for labor.

Morning Matthew. When you say the state enforced seizure of privately owned property is not a silver bullet, what do you mean? Because undermining property rights is a silver bullet for announcing to the world that Britain has a Communist Government and is no longer a safe place to store wealth or invest in. Has your department not thought through the consequences at all?
It’s not a silver bullet but bringing more empty homes back into use can help solve the housing crisis. Today, we’re announcing strengthened powers for councils to take control of long-term empty homes and use them to house families in need.

The entire Genocide Hoax is falling apart. Now the world’s biggest media giants are getting called out for eulogizing actual Hamas terrorists as “journalists.” Gaza fooled everyone.
The BBC listed 53 Palestinians killed in Gaza as “journalists” despite evidence linking them to Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terrorist groups, The Telegraph reports. Some participated in the October 7 attack, while others appeared in terrorist obituaries or posed with weapons and in military uniforms. The BBC says it is now reviewing the list. telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

What we learned from John Healey’s conference speech today... 1⃣ the new Chancellor is a better public speaker than his predecessor, as you'd expect from a former PR man for the TUC... 2⃣ the 1970s were brilliant (coal mining, heavy industries, British Rail, wage and price controls, trade union barons - see point 1⃣) 3⃣ er... 4⃣ ...that's it

I see we’re back with "it would be inappropriate to comment further." You didn’t mind commenting further when you wrongly assumed it was far-right terrorism.
I would like to thank the emergency services for their swift response to the major incident in Gloucestershire this morning and their reassurance that they believe the incident is contained. Whilst investigations are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.

Children have died in Gaza primarily because Hamas is a literal international terrorist group that prefers to hide behind women and children. They have SAID this often, using terms like "CNN strategy" and "Schoolhouse strategy." Their GOAL is to commit atrocities, provoke obvious-to-mandatory retaliation, hide among little girls or nurses or whatever, and then pop up with corpses on media hosted by Western traitors and cry about "genocide." So, I mean, there's that.
Worth noting that the human shield strategy would be pointless if they believed Israel was willing to just target indiscriminately. The only reason to do this is because Hamas/PIJ believe that having a child act as a human shield makes an Israeli action less likely.

Sickening. Erdogan's Turkey is a serial human rights abuser. Journalists rot in jail. Kurds face massacres. And our PM @andyburnham THANKS Erdogan for backing the UK against Israel. How about Turkey's illegal occupation of northern Cyprus? anyone? You couldn't make it up.

I repeat. We *do not* have a problem in the UK with the so-called "far-right". We do, however, have a VERY serious problem with a highly organised, dangerous, well-funded, well-connected, unhinged, and extremely violent far-left.

If someone owns a property and they have it empty then by definition they have a reason for doing so. It’s not up to you or the Govt to police whether their decision is valid or not. It’s theirs, they own it, they bought it. It’s theft to steel it.
Replying to @ShepherdWales
Why would anyone have a property empty for no reason? If it's being sold or refurbished the order won't apply. If it's just sitting there the homeowner will have to act sooner. That's reasonable for me.

I went looking for historical precedent for governments taking people’s homes and property against their will. Joseph Stalin. Soviet Union. 1929. Under Stalin’s forced collectivisation, privately held farms and property were confiscated and families were driven from their land. I’m not saying Labour’s plan goes anywhere near as far as Stalin’s collectivisation. It clearly doesn’t. But the fact we’re even moving further in the direction of the state taking control of privately owned homes should concern every single one of us.
I said it in 2020 and I’ll say it again. If you leave a home empty long-term in the middle of a housing crisis, it should be seized. Today’s announcement is great news.

Labour have been in power for 2 years, 2 months and 24 days. Since then they’ve attempted to stop local elections, scrap jury trials, change algorithms to favour “approved” news, and now take people's property against their will. If someone listed those events without context, my mind would go straight to the Soviet Union of the 1930s. This should not be Britain in 2026.

This is how nuts the OBR process is. They believe that more migration will lower the debt. And they punish politicians when migration is "too low". It's a constant upward pressure on migration. The OBR must be abolished.

BBC: Israel kills cyclist.
🔴ELIMINATED: Saher Nidal Latfi Sakr, a terrorist operative affiliated with global jihadist organizations operating in Gaza. Among other activities, he supplied weapons to Hamas during the war. Sakr infiltrated Israel during the October 7 Massacre and drove the motorcycle used to abduct Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or from the Nova music festival into Gaza. Recently, Sakr advanced attacks targeting Israeli civilians & IDF troops. He was eliminated in order to remove the threat he posed.
