Hey mutuals! I've been away for a while (10 years?) but I'm back and on a mission to find the joy in designing again. I've been working on an app that lets you save places. It's called Everyplace, and designing it has been the most fun I've had in years. everyplace.app

Beautiful. Reminds me of the MMD3 skin, which I think is one of the biggest reasons I became a designer. Seeing this for the first time in 2002 blew my mind and set me off exploring every corner of my pirated copy of Photoshop: deviantart.com/bartibartman/…

For the updated app icon of Tunely, a Music Visualizer, the goal was to aim for something Winamp inspired.

I've been using Atlas the last couple of days and it's been such a joy to use. I'd be severely annoyed if it doesn't end up winning an ADA.

okay, week 2, let's go. here's everything new in @atlasformac v1.2: → ⌘K menu (for quick navigation between collections, moving items around, and more) → folders! you can now create folders, move folders, move collections into folders, rearrange folders, group, ungroup, whatever (⌘+⌥+⇧+N or file → new folder) → save videos from X. just copy a link with video and paste to any collection. yep, just like that, works like magic, keeps the original post URL in inspector.

These were some of the first apps I discovered on Mac coming from Windows back in the day. Such an inspiration.

If you recognize these icons, it’s probably time to schedule your routine back exam.

Everyplace 1.0 shipped quietly. There were gaps I wasn't 100% happy with, so I didn't make a lot of noise about it. v1.1 is out on the App Store today, and this is the one I'm actually proud of. New features, lots of fixes, and it finally feels like the app I set out to build.

late friday news: atlas will be released on july 9. it’s a fast, native replacement for eagle (or finder, if you’re really old) for designers and content creators. pre-orders are now open with 50% off. macOS only.

Oliver (@subvolume) is another one of those "discovered via SIP" builders that feels extra special to me. His location bookmarking app Everyplace is pure delight (we should do a Community Apps roundup soon): spottedinprod.com/oliver-l/c…
