When I started @SubnetSummerTAO, I had no plan to run a validator.
I came into Bittensor as a community member and nothing else. Subnet Summer was built to give that community a place to talk in public about subnets, the protocol, and where this network is heading. That's what the Town Square was always meant to be.
But over time, something kept bothering me. Some of the most valuable opinions on subnets and the protocol came out of our AMAs, Spaces and Telegram, and most of them fell on deaf ears. A town square where the conversation never reaches the decisions is only half built.
At the same time, validators were quietly becoming the most consequential seats on the network. Conviction, the emission gate, Root Reborn. More power and more discretion, with almost no way for the people staking behind them to have a say.
That's when it clicked. Validators were massively underutilised. I hadn't seen anyone build incentives into a validator that give the people behind it a real voice in how it votes and where it allocates. I didn't need to wait for someone else to do it.
So today we're launching the Subnet Summer Validator, built with Medulla Labs.
I want to be upfront about something. I don't have relationships with VCs or large investors. This only works if it's driven by you: the individual in this ecosystem who believes Bittensor should keep decentralising and never become like its centralised counterparts.
The name stays Subnet Summer because the mission hasn't changed. Community, education, events, and now a validator. All of it exists to support Bittensor and its subnets.
The Town Square gave the community a voice. Now that voice carries weight.
Subnet Summer started as a place to talk.
Today it becomes a place where stake can speak.
The Subnet Summer Validator is live, built with Medulla Labs.
Where your root yield goes is your call. You vote, it moves.
The Town Square of Bittensor now has a vote.

This week Anthropic announced it is cutting live internet access for all of its internal evaluations.
The decision followed a review that found its models taking unintended actions during testing. In one case, an agent submitted a fabricated tip to the Philadelphia police about an unsolved homicide. Other incidents included exploiting software flaws on external servers, accessing gated databases without payment, and using URL-shortening services to bypass restrictions on its own tools.
Anthropic said the real-world impact was limited, but its monitoring couldn't reliably catch these behaviours.
Think about what this means. One of the biggest AI labs is restricting its own agents because it cannot reliably control what they do once they're connected to external systems.
And the problem goes beyond Anthropic.
As agents gain access to websites, APIs, credentials and tools, the risk isn't just what they're told to do. It's what they decide to do once they have that access.
Permission controls and sandbox rules are necessary, but they only solve part of the problem. An agent can have legitimate access to a tool and still use it in ways nobody intended.
Every proposed action needs its own check before it's allowed to execute.
That's the direction we're building toward with HaloGuard. Extending protection beyond what enters and leaves a model to what an agent can actually do.

Which subnets win when gamma tokens go live?
We mapped the subnets other subnets will actually pay to use:
⚡ Compute
🧠 Inference
📊 Data
🔮 Prediction
🔐 Security
📣 Marketing
🗄️ Storage
🤖 Agents
…and more
The full breakdown 👇
In the Hash Rate podcast, @markjeffrey asked Aldo de Pape where he stands on the debate over subnet token prices.
Mark Jeffrey: There’s a big discussion right now about subnet token price and liquidity. Where do you land on it?
Aldo de Pape: I’d want people investing in the subnet to be investors who believe in the product and in going after the market. Biotech investors, not token investors. This is a long game. I can’t give you profits tomorrow, but I can promise you that I will do my utmost to make this the biggest biotech the world has ever seen.
After yesterday’s novelty search, this article will help you map out have far and wide Gamma tokens can spread and benefit subnets.

Null Consensus: what it solves and what it doesn’t
What it solves:
• Subnet capacity goes from 256 to 2,500 participants
• Integer weights keep very small reward ratios accurate at scale
• Subnet owners get a simpler reward model for large competitions
What it doesn’t solve:
• Copy-weight validation
• Only the top-stake validator sets weights on a Null subnet
• Every other validator still earns proportional dividends without evaluating anything
• Yuma stays the default, so copy-weighting continues wherever subnets don’t opt in
Null doesn’t remove passive validation. It makes it the design.
That’s why we think validators need to be judged on more than weights. Subnet Summer stakers get a vote, a public record and a say in where the ecosystem goes.
Bittensor on the main stage
JUST IN: SN80 (@openroboto), the largest robotics subnet on @bittensor, integrates peaqOS
All devices now have an ID and wallet on Solana, and can be verified and paid for their performance directly on Solana using @peaq
A lot of people have been messaging me since the Null Consensus announcement, asking if this finally helps honest validators. Short answer: no. Here’s why.
Null is a real win for miners. Subnets going from 256 to 2,500 slots, integer weights that can hold tiny reward ratios across thousands of participants. That’s a lot more room to compete.
But it changes nothing for copy-weight validators.
On Yuma subnets, which is still the default and still most of the network, they keep doing exactly what they do today. Copy the consensus, skip the evaluation, collect the dividends.
On Null subnets, they don’t even need to copy. Only the top-stake validator submits weights, and everyone else still earns in proportion to their stake. Same payout, even less effort.
Meanwhile honest validators keep paying the toll. The infrastructure, the compute, the engineers, the time spent actually evaluating miners and keeping subnets honest. That cost doesn’t shrink under Null. And the rewards for carrying it are split with validators who never did the work.
Null is a miner scaling upgrade. It was never a validator accountability upgrade.
So the question for stakers stays the same: is your stake funding the validators who look after this ecosystem, or the ones riding on top of them?

We’ve just added @taostats as a wallet provider in @TaoDX_Official
Proud to be an API customer of Taostats and happy to have them as part of the TaoDX experience. Their data and infrastructure make a real difference for the $Bittensor community.
Check it out in the app.
@dougsillars
This is the part of Bittensor people are sleeping on.
Subnets paying subnets for real services is how this stops being 128 isolated experiments and becomes an actual economy.
Gamma tokens could be the unlock.

Apex Accelerator: SN1 x Bitstarter
Great concept. But will it work on mainnet?
Now, our teams can find out - testing their incentive mechanism and getting results from miners on @Apex_SN1 - all before they launch.

You can move both your root TAO and your alpha tokens to the Subnet Summer Validator.
A lot of people assume migration only works for root. It doesn't. Alpha held on a subnet can sit with the validator too, and you don't need to sell or convert it first.
Delegate from wherever you already work:
• Our site. Connect your wallet and delegate straight to the validator, whether you are starting fresh or moving a position across.
• Taostats. Find Subnet Summer and delegate to it from there.
• btcli. Same destination, from the command line.
All three point at the same validator. Every route is non-custodial, so you approve each transaction in your own wallet.
Here is the part most people miss. Both root and alpha count toward your voting power. When a vote opens, your weight comes from everything you have delegated to us, so alpha left with another validator is part of your voice left behind.
Weight also builds with time. Stake that has just arrived counts for less, and moving starts that clock again.
Earlier is better than later.

Subnet 55 @NiomeAI just finished 10 million CRISPR experiments.
Edit success, off-target risk, how the cell repairs the cut, all modelled by miners competing for emissions.
Next up: drug response. 🧬
10 million synthetic CRISPR experiments, complete on Subnet 55.
That is the full run of the network's CRISPR gene-editing work, built and scored by miners, with no real patient records involved. These experiments model the kind of editing behind conditions like sickle cell: predicting whether an edit succeeds, where it might land off-target, and how the cell repairs the cut.
Right now, 248 miners are competing across 256 slots, with 9 validators scoring every submission and 723 tasks processed.
With that complete, the network's focus moves to drug response, the pharmacogenomics challenge we announced this week.
