I’m on the ballot against Ritchie Torres this November. I’ve spent the past year on the campaign trail across the Bronx, and I haven’t seen him once. In June, Ritchie Torres won the Democratic primary with just 24,600 votes out of more than 460,000 eligible voters in NY-15. That means nearly 95% of us didn’t vote for him. Apparently, that’s enough for him to act like the general election is already over. You’d expect the person who claims to represent us to be registering voters, holding town halls, and making sure every neighbor knows there’s an election coming. Instead, Torres has been silent about the upcoming election. There’s a reason so many of us in the Bronx have tuned out politics, and it’s not because we don’t care. Ritchie Torres and the Democratic Party have spent years making sure we stay disengaged and disenfranchised. An engaged Bronx is the last thing they want, because the moment we start paying attention, we start asking whether there’s a better option than decades of Democratic Party neglect and apathy toward our neighborhoods. It shows. New York’s 15th Congressional District has some of the lowest voter turnout in the country. The general election is two weeks away, and our whole team, from staff to volunteers, is working hard to make sure every one of our Bronx neighbors knows about it. Both billionaire-backed parties are now more unpopular than ever. Fifty-seven percent of Americans view the Democratic Party unfavorably, and 63% view the Republican Party unfavorably. Clearly, people want a party that actually represents the working class, not billionaires. In the past few weeks alone, we’ve hit thousands of doors across the district, and we’re just getting started. This week, we’re running more than 20 canvassing shifts, out on the streets from 7 AM to 8 PM, speaking with our neighbors. From Mott Haven to Van Cortlandt Park, we’re building an unstoppable socialist movement that reaches every corner of NY-15. We’ve learned a lot from doing what the Democratic Party refuses to do: building a movement for free healthcare, clean air, more and better public housing, and fully funded schools. Building a future for the Bronx, not for the billionaires who fund and control our entire political establishment. That work doesn’t end on November 3. This campaign has always been an invitation to join the struggle for a socialist future. We’ve learned that the natural distrust most Bronx residents have for Democratic Party politicians has been mistaken for conservatism and indifference. In reality, it points to a much deeper potential: a suppressed yearning for radical, system-wide change. The Bronx is ready for a whole new system: a system where working people control the economy and the government, not the billionaires. A system that actually meets the needs of the people and the planet. The Bronx is ready for socialism.

Translation: the life of 1-year old Kohen Wiley was worth less than a $20 pack of diapers. End the war on Black America!

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch's office announced Monday it had completed its review of the shooting that killed one-year-old Kohen Wiley, and that the "use of force was justified," meaning the state will not bring criminal charges in the case. Kohen's family and local activists are demanding the release of police video of the shooting, which authorities have yet to make public. The toddler was shot and killed on June 14 when a Senatobia, Mississippi police officer, identified in state records as Sgt. Hunter Foster, fired into a moving car with Kohen, his mother, and his mother's friend in a Walmart parking lot while responding to a shoplifting call over alleged stolen diapers. Kohen was sitting in his mother's lap. The friend, who was driving, was also shot and wounded. Kohen's mother has denied she or her friend stole anything. Neither have been charged with shoplifting or any other counts, according to online state and county court records. Monday's ruling comes weeks after Senatobia fired its police chief over racist language, and as Foster has been accused in an internal complaint of making a racist remark to a Black colleague two days before the shooting.

Performing an abortion in Mississippi could result in 10 years in prison but an officer killing a 1-year-old child is justified????

The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office announced it found an officer’s use of force was justified in the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley. How can anyone accept that conclusion when Kohen’s family and the public still have not been allowed to see the body-camera footage? This is a department whose chief was fired after reports of racial slurs in his text messages, and whose officer faced a complaint alleging a racially offensive remark two days before he shot Kohen. If the footage supports the state’s decision, release it. We will not stop fighting until this family gets the truth. abcnews.com/US/wireStory/mis…

shooting a "suspect" for possibly stealing diapers? how is that legal even for Mississippi? (in fact the "suspect" hadn't even stolen the diapers; police were acting on a false report.) shooting the 1-year-old child of that "suspect" is even more egregious. yes, hard to see how this would ever have happened if those involved were white. the "suspect" would not have been shot, let alone her child; in fact, no one would have (falsely) reported the theft if the "suspect" were white.
Mississippi's attorney general says a Senatobia police officer was justified in the June shooting death of a 1-year-old boy while responding to a shoplifting call. The conclusion of the state's investigation follows months of mourning and calls for justice. cnn.it/4z0O5X6

A Duke football player is facing calls for suspension after swatting away a female athletic trainer as she rushes to help his injured teammate. Cornerback Kimari Robinson is seen standing over DaShawn Stone when the trainer gently nudges him to get closer to the injured player. Robinson responds by swatting her arm away, and the moment quickly sparks outrage online. Robinson is now apologizing, saying he feared his teammate was seriously hurt but admits his emotions are no excuse for how he treated the trainer. "I have to be better than that." Duke has not publicly addressed the incident as calls for disciplinary action continue. | @Outkick See what Robinson says happened after the game and why the backlash is growing: foxnews.com/outkick-sports/d…

Mississippi's Attorney General has ruled that a white Senatobia police officer was justified in fatally shooting a Black infant, Kohen Wiley, in June. Senatobia's police chief was fired last month after he was found to have used racial slurs in private texts.

Kohen Wiley was shot to death by police in the backseat of his mother’s car on an unfounded accusation that she shoplifted diapers. In no sane world is drawing a gun justified under these circumstances. Mississippi Attorney Gen. Lynn Fitch should be fired. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Abdul El-Sayed tells ABC News in new interview that Israel isn’t an ally of the United States: “An ally that takes your money to push you into wars you shouldn't be fighting is not an ally.” “If your kid has a friend who keeps bumming off their money, talks about them behind their back, and gets them into fights with other friends, what would you tell your kid? You’d probably tell them maybe it’s not actually your friend.” Link to interview: abcnews.com/video/137396168/
