Hitters are (obviously) exposed to better pitching in the postseason, so I researched how each lineup handles “premium stuff.” There’s no perfect threshold, so any is arbitrary, but I tested a bunch and landed on these ⬇️

Jose Altuve recorded his 2,500th hit, a double off Christopher Sánchez. He is the 103rd player to reach that number in MLB, per Baseball Reference. Altuve joins Freddie Freeman as active players with 2,500 hits and Craig Biggio as players to total 2,500 hits with the Astros.

Astros manager Joe Espada: "We needed to come out here today and play this way. This is the way we needed to come here and play today. Any other way wasn't going to be acceptable. We needed to come here and play like a team that is hunting to win a division and we did."

That's career hit No. 2,489 for Jose Altuve, who could reach 2,500 on this six-game road trip in New York.

It’s nice to see some long AB’s versus what we’ve been seeing lately. 8-10 pitch innings from the opposing pitchers

It was a great night for the three players the Astros got from the Cubs in the Kyle Tucker trade: Hayden Wesneski gave up three runs in seven innings. Cam Smith went 3-for-4 with a homer and game-tying single in ninth. Isaac Paredes was 2-for-4 with a two-run double in 10th.

Yordan Alvarez has 479 PA this season, the exact number Jeff Bagwell had at the time his epic 1994 campaign was interrupted. Alvarez may end up winning the AL Triple Crown this season, but dear god Bagwell was mashing.
