Ministers have refused to confirm Labour’s commitment to the triple lock – which guarantees that pensions will rise in line with inflation, 2.5% or average earnings, whichever is the largest increase – will be in that manifesto.
That has fuelled speculation that a change in the way pensions are increased to a less generous system could be used to partly fund the cost of free social care for adults in England.
The prime minister will address the Labour Party Conference today in his speech.

Since being appointed to lead, they have lost you 16 councillors.
Currently you are 2 away from losing the council to No Overall Control.
There are accusations of bullying, dismissing mental health issues, parties in the council building and your council changed the structure of the way councillor accountability works to make it less transparent and no longer independent.
Council Tax wasn’t frozen despite you promising it during the local elections.
Oh and you have a circa £44 million gap in your council’s finances.
