1/2 Four years after the landmark UN assessment of #humanrights in the Uyghur Region, state-imposed #Uyghurforcedlabour hasn’t stopped. We're calling on @UNHumanRights @volker_turk to publicly report on the human rights situation in the Uyghur Region.
Forcedlabourfafshion is now @stopforcdlabour. Our movement has already been campaigning across sectors to expose Uyghur forced labour, hold companies accountable, and demand government action. Our new name reflects that.

China is defending Starbucks’ expansion into Urumqi as criticism grows over the company’s decision to open two stores in the Uyghur region, according to reporting by @Independent.
Since the announcement of the expansion, lawmakers have called for the stores to close, and international human rights organizations such as @hrw have warned that Starbucks’ presence helps reinforce Beijing’s narrative that nothing is wrong in the region. Starbucks should close these stores and ensure its business does not lend legitimacy to the CCP’s ongoing repression of Uyghurs.

. @Starbucks opened its first stores in the Uyghur Region, despite widespread and well-documented human rights abuses against Uyghurs.
The Chinese government is working to portray the region as "normal", prosperous, and open to foreign investment while repression continues.
Foreign companies like @Starbucks must not help whitewash these abuses or lend credibility to China's propaganda.

CFU supports @ChinaSelect Chairman @RepMoolenaar's call for Starbucks to close both locations. Expanding business in the region while Uyghurs face mass imprisonment, forced labor, and cultural repression cannot be treated as business as usual.
As @Reuters reports, Starbucks is facing criticism for opening two stores in East Turkistan, where the U.S. has recognized the CCP's genocide and crimes against humanity against Uyghurs.

Replying to @Starbucks
@Starbucks, a company that has previously maintained a “neutral” position on matters related to genocide, is once again choosing to ignore a dire human rights situation—this time in East Turkistan—by opening stores in the region.
WUC calls on @Starbucks to close these stores and stand on the right side of history. Companies should not contribute to an economy where state-imposed forced labour remains a serious concern, nor normalize business as usual amid ongoing human rights abuses against Uyghurs.
This week, @Starbucks opened stores in Xinjiang, the Chinese region where the CCP is committing genocide against Uyghurs and other minorities.
Every cup sold in these stores ties an iconic American brand to the CCP’s brutal campaign against the Uyghurs. Starbucks should immediately reverse course and close its stores in Xinjiang.

Uyghur forced labour is STILL happening. Millions of Uyghurs are forced to work under state-imposed labour programs, and corporations are profiting from it.
Uyghur & rights groups have been speaking out against these crimes against humanity for YEARS.

A reminder to speak up about #Uyghurforcedlabour this #ClimateWeekNYC. Too many industries rely on forced labour products: solar panels, electric vehicles & fashion. Companies seeking to transition to clean energy MUST also address any exposure to Uyghur forced labour.

The ONLY way brands and retailers can address exposure to Uyghur forced labour is to fully exit the Uyghur Region and cut ties with all suppliers linked to the region. Govts must also adopt and enforce strong import bans so there is NO market for forced labour goods.

Here’s the problem: cotton from the Uyghur Region is banned under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act BUT companies are still selling & profiting from products tainted with forced labour cotton.
@popmartglobal @amazon @eBay @SHEIN_Official @AliExpress_EN must act NOW.
