One month before Russia invaded Ukraine, I stood trial at the High Court. And now I wait, in purgatory, to be judged. But I believe this trial and the silence around it - & all the Kremlin's men - has revealed something profoundly rotten at the heart of the British state. 1/

Claire Keegan on Open Book this afternoon. @chris_power has never asked for directions in Ireland, or he’d know to expect a cryptic answer. @CKeeganFiction revelation that she works 40 drafts, at least, gives pause for thought for any writer. Everything is hard to writer about.

Lovely reading of “Small things like these” @CKeeganFiction on @BBCRadio4 this morning. Looking forward to listening Claire Keegan in conversation with @chris_power for open book at 3:30 this afternoon.

Wonderful writing prompts today. Always a challenge, but that’s part of the writing process. As usual there were fantastic piece of empathy and sensitivity. Such gifted and inspired writers. ❤️📝

I have been told that my 📖 ‘The Boy Who Never Came Home’ is now at number 8 in the non-fiction PB charts across Ireland. I’m so happy this book is being read and Philip’s story shared. Somebody knows what happened to him, pls come forward. @TheMirrorBooks @easons @OMahonysBooks

Great event last night @WonderFestIre and @KidsBooksIrel Find your tribe, for support, encouragement and learn from the rejections. Remember the voice is the heart of the book, and that’s why we write. @meefion @CaitNiDhonnchu @Babayagadreamer @mitch_moo

A Monday morning sweet staple to counterbalance some dark writing, a perfect marriage :-)
Finding solutions to all those tricky writing conundrums from thoughtful edits to approaching publishers is less daunting with supportive advice. Writing groups are the best. 😊 Especially when raspberry scones are included @martelloBray
Raspberry scones and writer chats @martelloBray this morning! Creepy prompts snuck in.... how did that happen?! @stoneswrite @meefion 👀💀 #cafewriterswicklow #wicklowwriting #wicklow #amwriting

Here’s Colman Doyle’s photo as Willie Anderson stands resolute. Quite the moment of Irish sporting history to have captured even if New Zealand went on to win the game😊

And the writing prompt for next week, “sitting around the table”. That a table @martelloBray for CafeWriters. Which is your fav table for ‘the writing chats’?

Coillte yday confirmed to me that they are selling off 39acres of public forest near Enniskerry for a paultry 250,000. This is a scandal. This is a public forest with a right of way, bronze age cooking pits and is part of our natural heritage. This privatisation must be stopped.
