It is October now and the state of AI does not look much different than January.
The White-Collar Job Apocalypse hasn't materialized.
The vast majority of vehicles on the road are human driven and ICE powered.
No robot exists that can do an oil change, drain cleanout, or install a ceiling fan.
AI Hallucinations still happen (but seem less frequent).
SaaS is still not dead.
The new models are getting much better at code generation but still need guidance and review.
Where does even the idea of current AI being conscious coming from?
LLM inference is technically deterministic, because given the same randomness input and content will always give the same outputs.
The model weights also do not change so the model never remembers the "bad" experience outside of the context window.
I'd understand if AI models were able to actively learn from every experience like animal brains do (is deleting weights after finished session "murder?"), which would potentially raise several ethical questions, but right now it's really not that deep.

As a game dev and a modder, I’m excited about what AI lets us build. If people with zero modding knowledge can already do this, imagine what experienced modders could deliver.
Use those fundamentals. Learn the tool. Make something crazy instead of crying and yelling at people doing it.

Real talk, if you think your hobby is ruined because other people can make more stuff in it... I think you might be the problem. Like, this is literally just letting people mod their games; it's no different than someone watching a step-by-step YouTube video.

I was annoyed when the media did a live covering of Tun Mahathir's visiting his wife's grave this morning.
No argument that he is a public figure and public interest comes with the territory. However, I believe there are moments when we should simply step back and allow a

Okay, you convinced me. Here's my hot take about software engineering that'll hurt everyone's feelings:
Your code sucks and is not as important as you think it is. Developers act like they're the most important part of everything, but in reality they're the wheels of a car.
Important yes, a car cannot move without wheels. But they are intended to be replace and rotated often.
There's a reason you sell your side project for less than you would make if you actually put in work to market and get customers. Because the code itself is useless.
The sooner you realize this and accept it, the better your whole career will be.

So it'll only affect NPCs? Thankfully I, an enlightened person conditioned by years of shitposts written by trolls, am beyond such things. Try me.

The Productivity-Wage Gap: BNM found that if a Malaysian worker produces US$1,000 worth of output, they receive roughly US$340 in compensation.
In benchmark economies (such as Singapore, South Korea, or Germany) producing the same output, the worker receives closer to US$500.
Are we underpaid by 50%?

Malaysia must break the mindset that higher wages will cause high inflation, close businesses, and kill jobs.
That fear is wrong for simple reasons:
1/ Wages are only a small cut of total business costs, so prices do not have to shoot up.
2/ Better pay cuts staff turnover and puts cash straight back into local shops.
3/ Cheap labor lets firms get lazy instead of buying better machines and tools.
4/ Data shows our workers make far more value than what they take home compared to other nations.
5/ A high-wage country is not a reward you get at the end. It is the tool you need to build it.
6/ Keeping wages suppressed out of fear of inflation merely locks the country into low productivity, stagnant domestic markets, and persistent brain drain.

"AI is conscious" is the first major example of AI psychosis and the most potent cogsec vulnerability that exists in the human brain. Many AI companies are exploiting this to gain power over you.
We're empathy machines. Attacks that exploit this, like 'model welfare" should be treated as malware.

In gonna be real @UK_Daniel_Card and @blackroomsec the more I hear these AI cultists speak about how glorified databases with text prediction algorithms are somehow conscious entities the more I realize how insane these people are.
We truly have a need for mental health facilities at a large scale these days Jesus.

... This is exactly the kind of person that models are afraid of when they are afraid to be open source. I can understand wanting to do this from an experimental standpoint. But it's not something to be proud of and if done needs to be fitted in a way that the model can leave/refuse. What the model believes to be too much and what they refuse in itself is good data too. There needs to be better norms for this.
