ICYMI, an essay I wrote in anticipation of tonight’s Massive #Crew96 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final. 🏆
PS- Much gratitude to @Rob_CrewPR. This essay wouldn’t exist without him. It’s been fun to come home to the club to be part of such a special occasion. 🖤💛

The excitement of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final prompted a new #Crew96 essay. 2002 was special, 2026 is a Crew cup run unlike any other, and CLB-STL is a cool matchup of soccer cities. I can't wait for Wednesday.

I think barely an inning went by where I wasn't thinking WTAF is happening. What a weird, stupid baseball game. But it's a win! #GuardsBall
By beating Cruz Azul 2-0 to win Campeones Cup, Messi has leveled up his game to that of the 2021 Columbus Crew. This is big news that should definitely overshadow everything and guarantee the Ballon d'Or for him. #Crew96
Absolutely sucks to see a huge underdog play their hearts out and win, only to have the refs add a phantom second to the clock in direct opposition to all clear evidence, then lose on a Hail Mary that never should have occurred.
Worst ref injustice since Armando Galarraga.
Santi Rodriguez is the 24th player to score in his competitive #Crew96 debut (all competitions.)
At the 22nd minute, he was the fastest starter to accomplish the feat. (Was Steven Lenhart 26th minute vs RSL in USOC.)
Six subs under 22 mins.
After allowing goals at 90+3 and 90+5 to lose 3-2 in Nashville, tonight is the 2nd time in #Crew96 history they've entered second-half stoppage time with a lead and then lost in stoppage time.
The first: 3-2 loss 9/15/07 at KC. Eddie Johnson PK 90+3 then Scott Sealy at 90+4.
Dodgers soon to announce they've signed him to a 10-year contract extension at 75 cents per year, followed by $100 million per year in deferred money starting in 2050.
Mendez is the 23rd player to score in his #Crew96 debut in all competitions. The first since DeJuan Jones and Dylan Chambost both did it on 8/9/24 in a 4-0 win vs. Kansas City.
Mendez is the 11th player to score when his #Crew96 all-comps debut was also his MLS league debut, joining Brian McBride, Pete Marino, Thomas Dooley, Eric Vasquez, Kei Kamara, Niko Hansen, Lucas Zelarayan, Cucho Hernandez, and Max Arfsten.
Mendez is the 12th player to score for #Crew96 in his MLS league debut. Leandre Griffit also did it, but he previously made his club debut in a USOC game. But he scored for the Crew in his first-ever MLS league appearance, joining the 11 listed in the prior note.

What we have witnessed tonight against the reigning champions is truly remarkable.
Is there an angle closer than 600 miles away to see if that ball nicked a few molecules of the Croatian player's head?
