I've come to a place where I personally - identify a behaviour the system should possess. This could be very low level or very high level - low level might be 'if I concat an absolute file path with a relative path I get a new absolute path'. classic near-instant pure fn

- high level might be 'when I delete this resource from a kubernetes cluster, the system cleans up these other resources too.' I implement both using a test-first approach, but under v different testing setups.

Was wondering about setting up a mastadon account. Couldn't find a signup link for mastadon.social, so wondered about running my own mastodon instance but there doesn't seem to be a terraform solution available. Does that seem right? Is there another IaC solution?

🚨NEW🚨 If govt doesn't reverse its fiscal plans, it may have little option but to cut public spending so enormously it could result in the end of the NHS, acc to Charlie Bean, one of UK's leading economists, of the ⁦@OBR_UK⁩ & ⁦@bankofengland⁩ news.sky.com/story/spending-…

In Ukraine Taras Shevchenko is celebrated as a national poet and prophet. He is one of Ukraine’s best-known symbols of the struggle for independence and freedom. For good reason:

My favourite DevOps antipattern, I'm calling it the SREPL - the SRE REPL. It's where you get an SRE on a call, because something's broken in prod and you've not got rights. So you shout commands down zoom so you can proxy-debug the problem.

This is such terrible advice. for any project, there's a huge number of tests that are (a) cheap to write and (b) get you to code complete _faster_ than not writing them.
If you’re an indie hacker, you shouldn’t be writing unit tests

It’s hard to describe in bullets since it’s more of a holistic attitude on a team than any one thing but maybe this post is helpful vickiboykis.com/2021/08/05/t…

Ordered a copy of this. I reckon diagrams are one of the great skills of engineering, on a par with programming.
