First public presentation of my new play LEAN-TO went down last night. Thrilling, excruciating, joyful and satisfying to listen to my words interpreted by actors and a director in front of an aud. They gasped at the climax so I was stoked. The script works. 🪄

Michael Arden’s bleeped-out Tony Award speech is instantly iconic:
"Growing up, I was called the F-word more times than I could remember. And all I can say now is I'm a faggot with a Tony!"

Your annual reminder that the Tonys are spelled just like that: the Tonys. No apostrophe. Just the Tonys. (The Tonys won by Tony Kushner are Tony's Tonys. The Tonys won by Tony Kushner and Tony Shalhoub are Tonys' Tonys.)

We can provide everyone in America high-quality health care for a year—the kind of care Trump is getting right now—by taxing 60% of the wealth gains billionaires made in the last 6 months. I've introduced a bill with @EdMarkey and @SenGillibrand to do just that. Let's do it.

Two Senate Judiciary Committee members tested positive for COVID-19 today. We don't know when we'll know just how many people have been infected. The Senate cannot safely proceed on the Supreme Court nomination. We must focus on containing this virus to protect members and staff.

This sleazy Supreme Court double-dealing is the last gasp of a corrupt Republican leadership, numb to its own hypocrisy. The last gasp of a billionaire-fueled party that's undemocratically over-represented and desperately clinging to power in order to impose its extremist agenda.

I'm worried by a judge who'd accept a nomination under these circumstances.

What the Senate should approve:
-$600/week for 30 million unemployed workers
-$2,000 a month for working class Americans
-An emergency expansion of Medicare to all
What the Senate should not approve:
A Supreme Court nominee before Inauguration Day.

Trump’s hand-picked successor to Justice Ginsburg’s seat makes it clear: they intend to destroy the Affordable Care Act & overturn Roe. This selection would move the court further right for a generation & harm millions of Americans.
I strongly oppose Judge Barrett’s nomination.
