So let me get this straight. Danny Tommo is arrested and charged with criminal damage over the slashing of a boat in the Channel, a boat that, has no legal ownership His name is everywhere. His face is everywhere. We know exactly who he is, what he looks like and what he has allegedly done. Yet five men are arrested over explosives and terrorism offences near RAF Fairford and suddenly we get: “Five men have been detained.” Faces blurred. No names. No descriptions. No nationality. Nothing. And this isn’t just about the media. It’s the media, local authorities, government and public bodies. The same institutions that make decisions about who gets hired, who gets protected and what information the public is given. So if these men were White British, would we be told they were White British? Why is their background suddenly irrelevant? I’m not asking for anyone to be convicted before they face court. I’m asking for the same standards to apply to everyone. Because when information is withheld from the public, people are entitled to ask: Who decided we shouldn’t know, and why?
