This past May I had the rare privilege of creating immersive projections inside the Washington National Cathedral (@WNCathedral) for @commentmag's inaugural festival, "The Understory."
The imagery I curated became a visual meditation on the beauty & wonder of Creation. 🧵👇

Russia has been conducting a psychological warfare campaign against America through social media for years to "Divide Americans, fuel hatred, undermine democracy, and amplify political movements, including MAGA, when doing so serves Russian interests."

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Some of the relationships I appreciate most are those made and sustained despite significant differences. I believe our insistence on surrounding ourselves with people of like ilk is a form of narcissism. We don’t want relationships that require much. We want a hall of mirrors.

PSA—a sophisticated and widespread scam operation is impersonating me (again). If you receive an unexpected email from “Paul Pastor,” it is almost certainly this. Please report to the Fraud Alert page of HarperCollins.

@pauljpastor Hi Paul. Owen received an email from you today, we’re just checking if it was you before he replies. Many thanks.

Paul Pastor describes how Wendell Berry's advice helped him navigate the tension between the Ideal and the Real: "He helped show me how it looks to work for real goods under conditions that are less than ideal." frontporchrepublic.com/2026/…
hey everyone! Fun announcement:
I've created my first ever calendar!!
this was created in partnership with @ORParksForever, a nonprofit that raises funds to protect & enhance Oregon's State Parks & public lands. All proceeds from sales are going to them—I'm not making a CENT!
The pre-sale just went live; you can reserve yours now for $25. This is another fun way to bring the beauty of creation (& the surprising variety of Oregon's landscapes) into your home. Plus, it makes for a great Christmas gift, too! =)

I obviously LOVE drones... BUT...
I really hate it when people use them in this way & become a creepy annoyance to others.
This is a VERY triggering video for me to watch. 🤬
I absolutely ABHOR over-regulated zoning, permitting, city planning, etc. Especially in rural areas.
I experienced just a taste of what this guy & his family are going through with my 1st tiny house.
Makes me so mad.
That 1st tiny house ended up being featuring in @dwell multiple times. Even shared a little of my bureaucratic nightmare in this article, which apparently went viral.

I was commissioned by Comment to curate an hour-long meditation for the event.
I invited composer @HananTownshend to collaborate w/ me — weaving together live music & visuals as one unified piece.
We named it PHOS HILARON (O Gladsome Light) — after the Early Church's 1st hymn.
Huge thanks to @iamjonguerra & @audreyassad for their gorgeous vocals, @jeremystanley for capturing it all on film, the incredible production team, @commentmag's staff, & the Cathedral for hosting us in such a beautiful, historic sacred space!
My heart is full!
More to come...

I initially wrote “Culture Care” so our staff at @iamculturecare can have the language for fruitful thriving of culture in a world beginning to be decimated by Culture Wars rhetoric. That process began in the 90’s and accelerated after publication of the first edition over a decade ago from @ivpress.
It’s very clear now the devastating effect of culture wars that produces the “works of flesh” spoken in Galatians 5 in all of us, and it is time that we refocus on mending the fractures and growing culture that will give birth to the Fruit of the Spirit.
Artists and creative catalysts have a leading role in creating a culture of abundance rather than live only in transactional scarcity which dehumanized us. Join a world wide movement of #CultureCare to prepare the soil of culture for the future generations today.

This one’s gonna take a minute for me to process. It still feels like it was all a dream. Probably because it was a dream gig:
Immersive projection & visual curation in the Washington National Cathedral (@WNCathedral) for @commentmag's inaugural festival “The Understory”!
Many thanks to The Understory visionary leaders Anne Snyder & @TiffanyTMusic, the entire @commentmag/@cardusca team, & especially the insanely talented production crew for the opportunity & support to pull this one off. It took a village! (And we’re just getting started! 😏)
