On the morning of September 11, 2001, Howard Lutnick delayed going to work so he could walk his young son Kyle to his first day of kindergarten. That short delay changed everything. When the plane struck the North Tower, Lutnick was not at his desk on the 101st floor.
Cantor Fitzgerald lost 658 employees that day, the largest single loss of life suffered by any organization on 9/11. Among them were Lutnick’s younger brother Gary and his closest friend Douglas Gardner. In a matter of hours the company lost roughly two-thirds of its workforce.
As he grieved with the families, Lutnick made a commitment. Cantor Fitzgerald pledged 25 percent of the firm’s profits over the next five years to the families of the victims and continued their healthcare coverage for ten years. Altogether the company distributed more than $180 million.
He also promised that every child who lost a parent at Cantor Fitzgerald on September 11 would have the chance to join the firm once they were old enough. By 2016, 57 of those children had become employees.
Cantor Fitzgerald continues to remember its colleagues through its annual Charity Day, when the company donates 100 percent of its global revenues to charitable causes.
Lutnick survived that morning because he had taken time to be there for his son. In the years that followed, he used his position to help hundreds of families who had lost someone they loved.

Former President Barack Obama accused Jews of unjustly taking land from Palestinians during remarks in Northern Ireland on Tuesday, promoting an antizionist distortion of Israel’s history that ignores decades of legal land purchases from wealthy Arab property owners. British government records show Jewish buyers paid Arab landowners the equivalent of roughly $510 million in just three years before Israel’s founding, usually at exorbitant prices.
“What is also undeniable is that they took land off people and they were excessive. And those people understandably said, ‘This is injustice and I want my land back,’” Obama said.
The former president made the ahistorical claims on October 13 during a public talk with journalist Susan McKay at The O2 Belfast, an arena in Northern Ireland. Earlier that day, he received an honorary doctorate from Queen’s University Belfast.

Your days are numbered to 19 until you’re going to out of a job you’ve done poorly. Don’t worry though. You can follow the New Yorkers you chased to Florida. Remember, “Go Ahead, who needs ya”. Not smart Kathy.
We have 19 days to mobilize every corner of this state. 19 days to talk about how we’ll lower costs, keep our communities safe, and stand up to Trump.
I know @AdrienneEAdams and I won’t take our feet off the gas. We’re going to make sure New Yorkers know we’re fighting for them.
Donald Trump is not running for Governor so you’ll have to stand on your own record and it’s kinda crappy.

Mia Schem was a Drake fan. She listened to his music, admired him and even received clothing from his brand. Then she heard him say: “Pray for Gaza.”
For Mia, those words landed very differently.
Mia was shot and kidnapped from the Nova festival on October 7 and dragged into Gaza, where she spent 55 days in Hamas captivity. She says the wife of the man holding her sometimes fed her only once every two or three days, while his children would taunt her with food and then refuse to give it to her.
“They treated me like an animal in a cage.”
Mia says she initially believed that perhaps the women and children around her would show some humanity. Instead, she says she saw hatred being taught from childhood: “They teach the children from the beginning to hate, to become terrorists and to glorify death.”
Her friend Elia Toledano was kidnapped from Nova as well. He never came home alive.
So when Mia heard Drake’s message, she says she was shocked. And she had something to say to celebrities who speak so confidently about a reality they have never lived: “People don’t understand anything. They follow what other people say, like sheep.”
“I was kidnapped from my country and taken to Gaza. I know how they treated me there.”
That is the part Drake and every celebrity turning Gaza into a slogan should hear.
Mia does not know Gaza from TikTok, hashtags or celebrity activism. She knows it because she was dragged there wounded, held hostage, starved and tormented.
Before preaching to the world about Gaza, listen to the woman who was actually taken there against her will.
Her testimony matters more than any celebrity slogan.

Young people running through an open field in southern Israel while men hunted them down. Young people running across sand in Sydney a little more than two years later while men hunted them down.
Same ideology doing the shooting. Same people being shot and killed. One was a music festival. One was a Hanukkah gathering on a beach Australia likes to sell as a postcard. Fifteen people were murdered there, including a ten-year-old girl, a Holocaust survivor, and rabbis who had come to light candles in a country that kept promising them they were safe.
The people who spent three years calling October 7 “resistance” will now call Bondi a tragedy with no lineage. They will talk about mental health, or firearms, or two disturbed men who happened to bring Islamic State flags and homemade bombs to a Jewish festival. They will do anything except say the word that connects the two events.
Then they’ll turn on anyone who notices the connection and call that noticing a phobia, because a phobia is easier to police than a pattern.
Islamists went looking for Jews at a festival in Israel. Islamists went looking for Jews at a festival in Bondi. The distance between those two places isn’t an argument. It’s the evidence.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Marie Lukas, 32, was a securities broker working on the 103rd floor of the North Tower on September 11, 2001 when Flight 11 was deliberately crashed into her building.
This was sadly not her first experience with Islamic terrorists attacking her workplace; she was also in the North Tower in 1993. Her dad, FDNY firefighter Frank Lukas (Engine 226) helped her evacuate that day.
On 9/11, however, she was well above the impact zone and all escape routes were cut off. Marie, a Cantor Fitzgerald employee, made two desperate calls to her father Frank, now retired. First she told him that a plane had struck and all exits were blocked.
Then she placed a second call, asking along with her terrified colleagues for advice as their office filled with smoke and conditions deteriorated. They asked Frank Lukas if they should break a window to try and get air, he told them no, that sudden draft of oxygen could intensify the fire and engulf them.
Marie's last words to her dad were acknowledging his advice, "OK Dad."
Marie and all of her colleagues were murdered that day by Muslim terrorists Mohamed Atta, Abdulaziz al-Omari, Satam al-Suqami, Wail al-Shehri and Waleed al-Shehri as well as those who planned these barbaric attacks. Never Forget.
