Our model now shows a 50% chance of a major right-wing domestic terrorist attack between now and the midterm elections. And Nate ranks his favorite spots for Cincinnati chili. All that and more on the next 538 podcast.
Is the Supreme Court "illegitimate"? I use analytics to evaluate this popular claim in my newest article. Check it out! statswithsasa.com/2022/07/13…

Again @FiveThirtyEight sports takes another L. Does anyone there sanity check what they do?

You know Chef Ramsey’s a real one when he goes ape on the Kitchen staff for being terrible, then heads back inside and tells them “finish your cigarettes, then get back in”
Ever since I started following @KidCudi, he kind of dominates my feed and I'm here for it. Dude just radiates positivity.
I think one of my favorite fun facts of the past week or so is that Cudi and Timothee Chalamet are bros and party together
Sometimes you can donate to 501c3s that do things like fight malaria in Africa. Sometimes you can donate to 501c3s that do things like buy "a fully functional portable Tiki Bar offering DIRECTV and displaying multiple channels on 5 HD televisions with surround sound capabilities"
So this is on Spotify now. Gonna be a great day of new music. Happy freaking Friday my guys. New article will be on the failure (downfall?) that is the statistical integrity of 538's sports journalism.

Who greenlit this? Did anyone bother to sanity check the actual numbers, not just the graphics? Just more completely meaningless noise. Imagine having an ego so large that you predict player value SEVEN YEARS OUT for *every single NBA player*. (1/2)

Look at the edge cases. Lebron has literally no comparables. Jalen Suggs (a rookie who has played 0 NBA games) is being compared to both Beal's 2013 season and Smart's 2015 season. 80% confidence intervals so large the point predictions are meaningless. wth is this mess? (2/2)
"Our statistical model predicts that there is an 80% chance that Lebron's WAR will be between 0 and 11 when hes 40, with a point prediction of 4.4. We base this on Karl Malone's 2001 season, when he was 38. We think this is a valuable addition to NBA discourse."
