@Statamic has a much better structure business-wise than WordPress.
People love to talk about the "40%" number as if that has any sort of meaning.
It's not at all surprising that the "free" option has a large share of the market. But most sites built by WordPress aren't of any consequence. The fact that a bazillion stay at home moms spun up a WordPress site for their blog that nobody reads means literally nothing to me.
I use WordPress for business. I don't want a platform built for "DIYers". I want a platform built for professionals.
The funny part is, people will talk about how WordPress is "free" and Statamic costs $349 one time and $99/year after that and act like that's some kind of point for WordPress, but it's not. It's a point for Statamic.
Statamic is a professional tool, built for and marketed to professionals. If $349 is too much for you, you're not a professional. Go spin up a WordPress site for your crappy blog.
What makes this funny is the fact that if you end up using WordPress for professional work, it's pretty likely that it's going to cost more than Statamic anyways when you start adding up the cost of premium plugins. I mean just Elementor is $84/year. Gravity Forms is $60.
Then there are random add-ons and upsells and blah blah blah.
Then there's the cost of cleaning things up when the database gets hacked, there's the stress of optimizing it. There's the constant emails about WordPress updating. There's form plugins and security plugins and catching plugins etc etc.
Not to mention AI with WordPress is pretty hacky and feels like an afterthought, whereas Statamic is naturally very AI friendly given the structure of it.
I've been saying for awhile now that I would happily pay a fee for WordPress if it meant they actually put together a Product team and started actually listening to professionals and made real improvements people actually want as opposed to their current model of relying entirely on the work of volunteers with no sort of direction or roadmap.
$349 one-time and $99/year is nothing. Absolutely worth it.
Statamic is for serious professionals, WordPress is great for mom-blogs.
