We recently spent an unforgettable day hosting @randyhaykin and Erica Jeffries from @GratitudeNet
We wrapped up at Tom Mboya Primary, sitting in on an intense debate and an anagram challenge. Watching the incredible teamwork, the fierce determination, and the pure excitement on the learners' faces as they cheered each other on was absolutely electrifying.

A library can have hundreds of books and still not meet every learner where they are.
A younger learner may be drawn to a book with colourful illustrations and simple text. Another learner may be ready for more complex language or a book that challenges the way they think.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to building a strong reading culture. When learners have access to books that meet them at their level, they are better placed to enjoy reading, strengthen their foundational skills and gradually take on more complex texts as they progress.
A strong foundation matters and it starts with finding the right book for the right child. We welcome you to join us by gifting every learner in Kenya books they can learn from.

As we mark International Literacy Month, we’re visiting some of our beneficiary schools to see how their libraries are being used, how learners are progressing and what literacy is making possible for them.
These are the moments that remind us why literacy matters. When a child can read, understand and express themselves, they have more confidence to navigate the world and pursue what they want for themselves. But many children still move through school without foundational skills.

Sometimes, showing up is all it takes to make a child feel seen.
We were happy to have Reading Ambassador Joyce Odhiambo join us at City Primary for a library refresh and book club session.
When adults show up, children get to see that reading matters. They get someone to talk to, learn from and share ideas with. These moments help make reading a part of everyday life, and at a time when children are still struggling with literacy, we need more people to show up.
You don’t have to be a teacher. Bring your time, your skills, your love for books or simply your willingness to spend time with children.
