The progression from this to where he is now is insane to me. Did he genuinely believe in this activism back then, or was it politically convenient while building popular support for a mayoral run? I’m not going to pretend I know his intentions, but the pattern is hard to ignore. We’ve watched supposed allies sound fearless before running for office, only to get elected and start accommodating the very forces they once claimed to fight.
This was Zohran Mamdani only 13 days after October 7. No one could have predicted that this unhinged radical would become New York's next mayor. Israel had not yet launched its ground invasion into Gaza and he was already screaming genocide
tnx @mazemoore for that video

call that motherfucker out! he USED Palestinians. he USED the Palestinian movement. only a sick freak would use a live-streamed genocide to score political points, then support the people who are doing the genocide once in power. fuck that psyop-ass DSA, too!

100% support for those protesting Mamdani. You can still like the good stuff he’s implemented while simultaneously shaming him. That is what you are supposed to do when the politicians you vote for go against their word. These people are not our heroes, and he deserves the heat.

It was Mamdani's stance on Palestine that made me support him. I knocked on doors in Harlem when Black politicians were endorsing Cuomo, and Black people in Harlem had no idea who he was. I registered people to vote for him. I earned the right to be pissed!

I hope New Yorkers haunt him with insults wherever he goes. Politicians need to learn they cant just use Palestine’s popularity to launch their careers then switch teams as soon as they take power without people atleast caring. It keeps happening and people do nothing about it.
holy fucking curveball, I feel like I’ve been gut punched & this is another example of how you can’t trust any man in power anymore.
RIGHT NOW: Zohran Mamdani stands on the Israeli side of an October 7 vigil while Palestinian organizers and supporters of Palestinian liberation directly protest him.
Another politician at the vigil is Brad Lander, who increased NYC pension holdings in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, as their weapons were used to annihilate Palestinians at the height of the Gaza genocide.
Meanwhile, students across NYC are walking out of classrooms demanding an end to the city’s complicity in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.
Mamdani campaigned on solidarity with Palestine. Now the movement is confronting him over the gap between that solidarity and his political decisions. This is not a hypothetical contradiction or a disagreement over rhetoric. It is a confrontation over where political power is being exercised, whose demands are being accommodated, and whose are being dismissed.
Solidarity is measured by what you do with power, not what you say to obtain it.
