This is a great product that (finally) ships at the worst of times.
The RAM alone has moved the price from 800$ to 1059$.
I was fortunate enough to try it in January right after the R-2 introduction and I remain very much impressed. I know some specs can feel underwhelming but the product and experience is just very well executed and very polished. All while Valve will push for more open development on the underlying runtime.

I had the privilege to also experience this setup early in January in Austin and what Jonathan built with passion is the best setup I have seen and a clear, immediate use case where VR wins over any other medium for an actual market other than gaming.
We built a 5,000 SF Holodeck for our own use at Four Seasons Lake Austin. It's so far ahead of other VR that John Carmack (former CTO at Oculus) and Meta's CTO have flown to Austin to see it.

I am overwhelmed with all the messages we received after announcing the Lynx-R2. It feels that we were spot on with most specs/design decisions and the current macro trends of our market only reinforce our core vision. I try to read everything and I'm thankful for the feedback.
Thanks! It's a battle-tested laptop hinge but the difficulty in designing this part is to mix it with the eye relief mechanism and 11 cables (battery + speakers) passing through.
The thing I love about the new @Lynx_xr is they kept the flip-up. I think flip-up passthrough VR visors really make sense, but you have to crack the design problem of making the flipped-up state be aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing as a cap or visor.

We are making the exact same video for the R2, but this time we had to pivot the GoPro to have a slight view of the peripheral vision because of the massive gain in FOV! Coming very soon.

The full reveal of the device will happen on Wednesday! In the meantime, I can share now that the passthrough resolution is more than 3K x 3K per eye, and we had to revamp our distortion pipeline completely to accommodate the FOV of both the cameras and the VR optics 👀.
