If the first Jewish person to ever be nominated for the US Senate was being demonized for his/her faith the way Abdul El-Sayed is no one would have any issues calling it anti-Semitism. Yet we don't have people uniting to call out the hate being spewed against Abdul simply for his faith.

I don’t think Europeans fully appreciate what is happening to the European Union right now. The EU is under an extraordinary, multi-front assault, both from outside and from within. And I struggle to think of another period in its history when so many powerful actors had an interest in weakening it simultaneously. Russia has spent years waging hybrid warfare against Europe. Weaponised migration, sabotage, cyberattacks, coordinated disinformation campaigns, bot networks and political interference. The objective is clear: undermine trust in democratic institutions, deepen social divisions and weaken European unity. China has different motivations, primarily economic and geopolitical. A fragmented Europe is easier to pressure, easier to negotiate with individually and less capable of defending its economic interests. And then there is the United States. Perhaps the most disturbing development of all. Under Trump and MAGA, a country that helped rebuild the old continent and then spent decades supporting European integration now has an administration openly hostile to much of what the EU represents. Its own National Security Strategy even calls for cultivating resistance to Europe’s current political direction. Think about that for a moment. Meanwhile, within Europe, parts of the far right and far left amplify these divisions, whether through ideological alignment, political opportunism or outright sympathy for authoritarian regimes. This doesn’t mean Russia, China and MAGA are all following some jointly coordinated master plan. They don’t have to. Their interests increasingly overlap, and Europe’s internal divisions make their work considerably easier. What makes this particularly alarming is what is actually at stake. For all its flaws, the EU remains one of the world’s most consequential projects built around liberal democracy, the rule of law, individual freedoms and cooperation between nations. At a time when authoritarianism is gaining ground and even longstanding democracies are showing disturbing tendencies, that matters enormously. Europe is far from perfect. Its bureaucracy, indecision and inability to act decisively are real problems. But the answer cannot be to retreat into 27 competing nation-states, each too small to meaningfully influence a world increasingly dominated by continental powers. Quite the opposite. Europe needs deeper integration, stronger common institutions, genuine strategic autonomy and the political courage to defend its interests and values. Because fragmentation is precisely what so many external actors want. And perhaps that’s the central irony of our time: people are being deliberately manipulated into believing that the reverse is true — that national identity and sovereignty can only be protected by weakening European cooperation. In reality, a divided Europe is less sovereign, less secure and far easier for outside powers to pressure. Therefore the very thing that will make Europe stronger is the thing its adversaries are working hardest to prevent. A united Europe is a geopolitical power. A divided Europe is a collection of countries waiting to be played against one another.

The Republicans who are complicit in Trump’s alliance with Putin will be remembered as the Butchers of Ukraine. @SenRonJohnson @LeaderJohnThune @RogerWicker
When I looked at this photo, I cried. Today, russians killed this baby. I have a one-year-old daughter. And russia has killed hundreds of children like this. Yes, russia is a terrorist state. But now, I want all Trump supporters to understand that they share responsibility for what has happened to this child and what is happening in Ukraine. The US Congress has approved funds and Patriot missiles for Ukraine, but Trump stopped them. Also, the United States once again didn't warn Ukraine about the russian attack. Not only have Trump and his supporters stopped helping Ukraine, but they have also sided with russia. The diesel deal was just the beginning. Now, the Trump administration is preparing to further ease sanctions against russia by lifting restrictions on russian oil tankers, gas, and certain companies and individuals. Also, Trump is exploring ways to take control of frozen russian assets. These assets should be used to compensate Ukraine for the destruction caused by russian aggression, but Trump wants to give them back to russia. Neither history nor humanity will be kind to Trump and his supporters. They will be remembered as the enablers of russian genocide against the Ukrainian people.

Here we go. We are delaying the bad news until November 4th or one day after the election. Please make a plan to vote; it is up to all of us to do our part.
The Trump admin is moving forward on plans to impose financial penalties on Americans in default on their federal student loans and hire private debt collectors to go after them. The plans are unlikely to be announced until after the midterms. washingtonsun.com/economy/tr…

The UK is making clear that there are consequences for settlement expansion. Not just for politicians or settlers, but those physically building the infrastructure that threatens Palestinian communities and undermines the possibility of a secure future for both peoples. It’s time for the US to follow suit, which is why we are supporting the Stop the Settlement Act, and pushing for a change in US policy. Sign now: jstreet.org/stopsettlements

Imagine if in 1943 FDR had decided that the US would stop helping Britain and instead would side with the Third Reich. That's a bit like what President Trump is now doing by cozying up to Russia as it tries to destroy Ukraine. Utterly shameful. A humiliating moment for the US.

A good summary of how much Meta is in the tank for Trump. And a reminder that the authoritarian threat comes not just from within the Trump administration but from its oligarchic allies. Oligarchic power is now a clear and present threat to our democracy. open.substack.com/pub/popula…

If you and others take this path, and Mike Rogers wins, you will be complicit in enabling more judges, like Alito, Thomas and Cannon, more cabinet members like Hegseth, Lutnick and RFK Junior, more whitewashing of corruption and violence. You will own it.
For me, the only dignified choice is to leave the Senate race blank—an undervote representing a rejection of ideological absolutism. This makes me no less a Democrat. I refuse to be complicit in excusing or accepting extremism to beat extremism. The madness has to stop somewhere. detroitnews.com/story/opinio…

🚨 BREAKING: Gina Hinojosa is suing Greg Abbott for violating public records law to hide his emails with Elon Musk. Ken Paxton as AG redacted all but 200 of 1,374 pages after Abbott argued the conversations between him and Musk are "intimate and embarrassing." Hinojosa alleges the emails might cover tax incentives for Musk's companies, data center development, broadband deals, and more. She's asking the court to force Abbott to unredact the remaining 1,174 pages. Follow the money...

Murder. Utterly unjustified arrest, criminal negligence.
Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias, who died while in ICE custody on Saturday, was a lawful permanent resident. ICE said he was detained bc he failed to disclose a 2004 arrest for theft while applying - but his daughter says he did. @TexasTribune texastribune.org/2026/10/19/…

ICE agents brutally attacked and broke the arm of a North Long Beach resident and U.S. citizen. The videos are horrific and should concern not just our community but the country. I’m proud of the neighbors who documented and stood up for the family being terrorized by ICE. Donald Trump and his inhumane and illegal deportation machine must be stopped. Long Beach stands with our community and our immigrant families. ICE is not welcome in Long Beach. Abolish ICE.

Horrific and shameful.
An asylum seeker from Peru has decribed forced labor and retaliation going on inside Delaney Hall in New Jersey, which is a private, for-profit ICE facility operated by GEO Group. Martin Soto said people who were detained are being paid as little as $1 per day for difficult labor, facing 12-hour shifts, and being threatened with solitary confinement, loss of family visitation privileges, or lockouts if they refused to work. Soto was arrested by ICE in February while shopping for diapers for his child and he was released a few weeks ago after 8 months in detention. He helped organize a hunger strike and labor strike while being held. The New Jersey Department of Labor has certified Soto's U visa application in connection with investigations into labor exploitation. A U visa is reserved for non-citizen victims of qualifying crimes who assist law enforcement in investigating criminal activity. Concentration camps coercing labor from immigrants through threats of solitary confinement, loss of visitation, or lockouts is some Nazi shit. These corporations like GEO Group prioritize corporate profits over basic human rights. If this is what they're doing to immigrants today, it's only a matter of time before these monsters bribe our politicians to throw me and you in these concentration camps too just to make a buck. This gentleman Martin Soto is extremely brave for organizing strikes and coming forward about what's going on. He is more American than all of these gestapo thugs combined.

Evil. And Republicans in Congress are complicit.
ICE run over U.S. citizen riding his bike—break his arm. Agents handcuff him behind his back without calling paramedics. They inflict even more injuries—send him to the hospital in serious condition. Then agents detain another U.S. citizen—for yelling at them on the sidewalk. Man with the broken arm's daughter says he was hit on his e-bike by an unmarked car. He was then tased twice and pinned to the ground—currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Multiple ICE vehicles were running through stop signs—speeding the wrong way down one-way streets. All on a weekend afternoon with kids playing outside. Incident occurred near the intersection of East 56th Street & Elm Avenue in Long Beach, California. Stop ICE Net doesn't have an account on this platform—so posting first full length, English translated, and credited video here to help raise awareness.
