Snippet from @weakintheknees and @irishracing on Willie Mullins and Final Demand!
ππ
After Final Demand finished second at Cheltenham on 11th March blood and urine samples were taken for Analysis.
On 26th March, 15 days after Final Demand competed at Cheltenham, the BHA were informed of the adverse analytic finding in the blood sample.
Willie Mullins, as is the right of any trainer, elected to have the B-sample tested. This also came back with a positive result on 10th April.
The very same day, 10th April, the BHA dispatched a member of their team to Cheltenham Racecourse to retrieve CCTV footage βfor the βIrish Yard' where the BHA had been informed that Final Demand was stabled prior to his run.β
On 21st April the BHA received a memory stick with the requested CCTV footage.
It wasn't until 8th May that they looked at the footage and realised that they had images from the wrong stable yard. Final Demand had only moved across to the Irish Yard on the morning of the race, having been stabled in the Charles Turner yard from 8th - 11th March.
On 11th May an email was sent to Cheltenham requesting the missing footage.
It turned out that this CCTV footage was in the possession of a third-party supplier and by the time Cheltenham Racecourse and the BHA finally got hold of him, 2nd July, he had misplaced the hard drive containing the vital footage that could have potentially revealed exactly how Final Demand tested positive for mepivacaine.
The urine sample taken from Final Demand was not tested at the same time as the blood sample. It was 14th May before that also came back positive for mepivacaine.
The urine sample crucially showed the presence of 3-hydroxymepivacaine which indicates that Final Demand was exposed to the drug shortly (within 24 hours) before the race.
It would have been useful to the investigation if the urine sample had been tested sooner.
It wasn't until 17th July, over two months after the BHA had all of the urine and blood results in their possession, when the BHA's own expert, Dr Tyler, prepared a report outlining the short window during which the horse most likely came into contact with mepivacaine.

There's two ways to look at this, you could say owners have every reason to leave and having issues and make a huge deal out of it.
Reality is, for whatever reasons the horses being purchased haven't been up to standard since Ruby Walsh left. Ruby decided to head home to Willie Mullins and that was the first dagger to the heart of team Paul Nicholls.
He needs to up his game if he's to compete.
Will he ever be back where he was?? It's very hard to say, in my personal opinion the new teams of Skeltons, Derhams and Pauling's have passed him out.
If your going to compete in England currently you need something very different and I don't see him having that hunger and desire at his stage to take that yard there.
That's not being overly harsh but it's just the way racing is.
The beauty of the sport is, it's there for anyone to prove them wrong.

First proper race I've seen in a while, but will leave thinking they can win the rematch. Newmarket Round 1 Aiden O Brien.

If it's anything like Ireland the secret cartels of agreeing the price in downs while being a thing anyways.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
Β
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
Β
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
Β
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
Β
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.
Does anyone know how many he has left to win at?

Anyone tell me what's happening in Killarney, looks like they've modular houses built in the middle of the course?
What tickles your fancy, a Charles Byrnes gamble in Roscommon or a Brendan Duke Gamble in Down Royal.
Maybe with an extra trainer thrown in Roscommon to help boost Charles touch
How are @SpursOfficial still in bigger danger of going down than @ManCity @Mrjamieohara1 @talkSPORT @jasoncundy05
Was anyone listening to @offtheball on Saturday there was on interview on it. They were discussing Michael Lester etc.
I wanted to buy the book but only cut in on some of the story
When is @GNev2 going to realise that this man utd won't change. The characters aren't the same as Gary's former teammates.
Gary died for that shirt, these are just about interested in playing. Walking and dragging their feet around.
Imagine if Roy played with these, he would absolutely loose it.

Very rare a winner is gone by the line at 1.3 in Gowran.
Is this a steal with all the results lately?
Very likely to be increased for 2027 based on results.
