We’re currently taking a bit of a hiatus to focus on summer reading, HB710 preparation, and squeezing in a vacation, among other secret shenanigans.
You can still support libraries through the Idaho Library Association (ILA)’s fundraiser: bonfire.com/store/idaho-libr….

This book is 27 years old and just as relevant now as in 1999, because rape culture. It’s also been one of the most frequently banned books since it was published, because god forbid young people know they’re not alone and have a voice to speak out against sexual violence.

Not exaggerating when I say the future depends on this catching on en masse. Kids, adults. Book clubs, silent reading groups. For the past twenty-five years tech has corroded our attention, intelligence and basic pleasure in living, and books are the key to winning them back.

Our library in rural Idaho is way too small. It has room for maybe 20 people at a time for story time with toddlers, after school help for kids, and a place for seniors to gather. All in the same room and never at the same time...
But we have a community of over 7,000 people in our library district!
200+ people show up for summer story time outside sometimes, but we have no space for that level of activity inside the library during winter or bad weather.
Kids in our area need books and a real chance to learn.
A lot of kids are falling behind in reading. Even college students today struggle to read full books.
Headlines everywhere are saying "kids can't read."
Rural America is one of the hardest hit areas. It's sad, but true.
What happens to a rural community without a good library?
Our new 22 minute documentary shows the difference it makes and what we could lose if we don't build a bigger library here.
Watch our fundraising documentary right here on X in my post below.
Please share this post with your family, friends, followers, and community.
Or if you know a business owner, builder, foundation, or anyone who can help us finish this, tell me how to reach them. I'd love all the help we can get for this project.
Thank you for watching and for caring!
If you develop an addiction to reading and discover the cost of 45 books a year is just out of your budget, the library is here to help!
And don’t pay a subscription for ONLY ONE audiobook a month! Borrow AS MANY AS YOU WANT from the library at NO COST!!

The librarian who hand-sells a book, who says I think you specifically will love this one, is doing something that an algorithm cannot replicate.
They have read the book.
They have read the child.
And they have made a considered judgement that these two things belong together. When that judgement is right, it can change everything. We thank all the librarians out there who take the time to make that difference.

A small number of individuals are responsible for the majority of Utah’s book challenges
In Davis County, one person challenged 24 of the 25 books that were ultimately banned, and in one district, 199 out of 204 book challenges came from a single couple.

You can go to the library. It's free and they don't censor the movies. And what do you mean return? Pizza Hut never went away. There has never been a point in time where Pizza Hut went away.

Organizations like this will flat out lie to Americans to turn us against each other.
Don’t let them lie to you.
We found the Bible in every school.
We found HUNDREDS of biblically themed books in the district and we found HUNDREDS of books supporting Christianity in the district.

People sleep on libraries!
I've gone to gardening workshops and received free plants
I listen to audiobooks for free
I can avail myself of up-to-date newspapers and magazines when I infrequently feel like it
etc. It's more than just books to read, which is also a great perk!
