As a part of Islamic Heritage Month, the City of Brampton is renaming Eastbourne Park to Kallair Family Park. It was originally named after a coastal town in East Sussex, England; matching the naming convention of the surrounding Brampton neighborhood of Bramalea. Its new name is honors the brothers Muhammad Nawaz Kalair and Muhammad Aslam Kalair, who immigrated to Brampton in the 1960’s and established the city’s first mosque, the Jami Makki Masjid.
