The College of Economics and Political Science, in collaboration with the Business Communication Unit, hosted an engaging workshop titled “Communication in the Banking Sector” as part of the Public Speaking course at Sultan Qaboos University. The workshop was delivered by Saif Al-Barwani, Head of Retail Products at Alizz Islamic Bank, and organized by Dr. Dalal Al-Khatri. The workshop provided students with valuable insights into the role of effective communication in the banking industry, highlighting the importance of professional communication, customer engagement, and building trust in financial services. It also offered students a practical perspective on how communication skills are applied in real-world banking environments. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to empower students with essential communication skills that contribute to their academic and professional development, preparing them to become confident communicators and effective future leaders. نفّذت كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية، بالتعاون مع وحدة الاتصال التجاري، ورشة عمل بعنوان «القيادة من خلال التواصل» ضمن مقرر الخطابة والتحدث أمام الجمهور في جامعة السلطان قابوس، قدّمها الفاضل سلطان الحارثي، مدرب في القيادة، ونظّمتها الدكتورة دلال الخاطرية. وقد أتاحت الورشة للطلبة فرصة التعرّف على دور التواصل الفعّال في القيادة، مع التركيز على أهمية تطوير المهارات التواصلية، وبناء علاقات مهنية مثمرة، والتأثير في الآخرين بوضوح وثقة. وتأتي هذه الورشة ضمن الجهود المستمرة لتمكين الطلبة وإكسابهم مهارات التواصل الأساسية التي تسهم في تطوير مسيرتهم الأكاديمية والمهنية، وإعدادهم ليكونوا متواصلين وقياديين أكثر ثقة وفاعلية.

بهدف ربط المعرفة الأكاديمية بالتطبيقات العملية في سوق العمل، استضافت كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية أحد خريجيها المتميزين الأستاذ إبراهيم الكندي، رئيس جائزة العطاء الكبرى وتنفيذي التسويق والفعاليات بجمعية دار العطاء، كضيف متحدث في جلسة نظمتها د. مروة الهنائية ضمن مقرر التسويق للمؤسسات غير الربحية. وقد سلّط الضوء خلال الجلسة على الدور المحوري للتسويق في تمكين المؤسسات غير الربحية وتحقيق الأثر المجتمعي المستدام. كما شارك الطلبة تجربته الملهمة في قيادة جائزة العطاء الكبرى و الذي نجح مؤخراً في جمع أكثر من مليون ريال عماني كمساهمات خيرية ، مما يعكس القوة الحقيقية للتسويق الاستراتيجي في خدمة المجتمع. يجسد الأستاذ إبراهيم الكندي قيم العطاء والقيادة التي نسعى دوماً لغرسها في طلبتنا. ونتقدم له بجزيل الشكر والامتنان على مشاركته القيمة ووقته متمنين له دوام التوفيق والتميز. To bridge academic knowledge with practical real-world applications, the College of Economics and Political Science hosted distinguished alumnus Ibrahim Al-Kindi—Head of the Grand Giving Award and Marketing & Events Executive at Dar Al Atta’a—as a guest speaker. The session was organized by Dr. Marwa Al-Hinai as part of the Marketing for Non-Profit Organizations course. During the session, Ibrahim highlighted the pivotal role marketing plays in empowering non-profit organizations and achieving sustainable social impact. He also shared his inspiring experience leading this charitable initiative, which recently raised over 1 million OMR in charitable contributions—demonstrating the true power of strategic marketing in serving the community. As a CEPS Alimni Ibrahim exemplifies the values of leadership and dedication that we continuously strive to instill in our students. We express our sincere thanks and gratitude to him for his valuable contribution and insights ans wish him more success.

نظم قسم خدمات المعلومات بمكتبة كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية جلسة نقاشية لمناقشة الورقة العلمية "“From personality to prestige: A dual-method analysis of masstige consumption using PLS-SEM and fsQCA” للدكتور ميرزا محمد من قسم التسويق، تم التعريف بمصطلح masstige ، والتعرف على المتغيرات المستخدمة في الدراسة منها أنواع الشخصيات الخمس. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أنه لا يوجد علاقة بين نوع شخصية المستهلك وقرار الشراء. أدار النقاش الدكتورة موزة الحضرمية، حيث أسهمت في إثراء الحوار وتنظيمه، مما أضفى على الجلسة طابعًا تفاعليًا ومعرفيًا لاقى استحسان الجميع. The Information Services Department at the College of Economics and Political Science Library organized a panel discussion to discuss the research paper titled "From personality to prestige: A dual-method analysis of masstige consumption using PLS-SEM and fsQCA" presented by Dr. Mirza Mohammad from the Department of Marketing. The session introduced the concept of "masstige" and explored the variables used in the study, including the Big Five personality traits. The study's findings revealed no relationship between a consumer's personality type and their purchasing decision. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Moza Al Hadrami, whose contributions enriched and organized the dialogue, giving the session an interactive and informative atmosphere that was well received by all attendees.

نظّمت كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية بالتعاون مع قسم إدارة العمليات والإحصاء التجاري رحلة علمية إلى مطار مسقط الدولي، بالتعاون مع شركة تنمية نفط عُمان، بهدف التعرّف على العمليات التشغيلية واللوجستية الشاملة، والاطلاع على آليات العمل وتطبيقات إدارة العمليات على أرض الواقع، بما يعزّز المعرفة العملية ويربط الجانب الأكاديمي بالتطبيق الميداني.

استقبلت كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية ممثلة بالمكتبة دفعة جديدة من طلبة مدرسة العاصمة الخاصة، ضمن مبادرة “من قرأ صغيرًا، شب قديرًا”، اليوم الخميس الموافق 29 أكتوبر 2026 والتي تهدف إلى غرس حب القراءة وتنمية مهارات البحث والمعرفة لدى الطلبة. تعرّف الطلبة خلال الزيارة على مرافق المكتبة وخدماتها، وتلقوا برنامجًا تدريبيًا حول كيفية البحث عن مصادر المعلومات وطرق صنع الكتاب، إضافة إلى جلسة توعوية تناولت أهمية الكتاب في الحياة اليومية والمهنية. Today, Thursday, October 29, 2026, the College of Economics and Political Science, represented by its library, received a new batch of students from Capital Private School as part of the initiative "He who reads young grows capable." The initiative aims to instill a love of reading and develop students' research and knowledge skills. During the visit, students learned about the library's facilities and services, took part in a training program on searching for information sources and the book making process, and attended an awareness session on the importance of books in daily and professional life

As part of our commitment to embedding regional and international perspectives into the student learning experience, the Department of Marketing hosted Mr. Jaffar Hamza, a distinguished Brand Strategist and Creative Director from the Kingdom of Bahrain. Organized by Dr. Marwa Al-Hinai for the Marketing Management course, the session, titled “Brand Positioning in a Crowded Market”, offered our students real-world insights into modern brand differentiation across the GCC. Bringing global and regional industry leaders directly into the classroom aligns with our strategic vision to prepare students with competitive, multi-market expertise. Sultan Qaboos University hosted a seminar titled “Circular Economy and Energy Transition: Unlocking Opportunities for Oman Vision 2040,” organized and moderated by Dr. Nurcan Kilinc. The seminar featured Dr. Raiya Al-Hajri, Head of R&D at the National Local Content Office (ICV), who shared valuable insights into circular economy practices, energy transition, and sustainable development. The event served as an important bridge between academia and industry, emphasizing the role of knowledge exchange and collaboration in supporting Oman’s economic diversification and sustainability objectives under Oman Vision 2040.

نظم قسم خدمات المعلومات بمكتبة كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية محاضرة بعنوان: "الذكاء العاطفي"، قدمتها الدكتورة سهيلة الهاشمي. والتي تناولت مفهوم الذكاء العاطفي وأهميته في العمل والبيت، مع التركيز على أهمية الوعي بالمشاعر وفهم الآخرين من حوله والتعامل معهم بذكاء. وقد حظيت المحاضرة تفاعلاً كبيراً من الحضور.   The Information Services Department at the Library of the College of Economics and Political Science organized a lecture entitled “Emotional Intelligence,” delivered by Dr. Suhaila Al Hashmi. The lecture explored the concept of emotional intelligence and its importance in both the workplace and family life, with a focus on emotional awareness, understanding others, and interacting with them effectively and intelligently. The lecture received a great deal of interaction and engagement from the attendees.

شارك طلبة تخصص الاقتصاد والمالية بكلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية في جامعة السلطان قابوس في زيارة ميدانية إلى هيئة الخدمات المالية، وذلك في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى تعزيز المعرفة العملية لدى الطلبة وربط مخرجات التعليم الأكاديمي بمتطلبات القطاع المالي. وتضمنت الزيارة التعريف باختصاصات الهيئة وأدوارها الرقابية والتنظيمية، إلى جانب استعراض مبادئ الحوكمة والتدقيق، والتعريف بالفرص المهنية المتاحة في القطاع المالي بسلطنة عُمان. كما شكّلت الزيارة فرصة للطلبة للاطلاع على طبيعة عمل المؤسسات الرقابية ودورها في تنظيم القطاع المالي وتعزيز كفاءته، بما يسهم في تنمية معارفهم وتطوير قدراتهم المهنية. Students from the Economics and Finance major at the College of Economics and Political Science, Sultan Qaboos University, participated in a field visit to the Financial Services Authority (FSA). The visit was part of ongoing efforts to enhance students’ practical knowledge and bridge the gap between academic learning and the requirements of the financial sector. The visit included an introduction to the Authority’s mandates and regulatory and supervisory roles, an overview of governance and auditing principles, and insights into the professional career opportunities available in Oman’s financial sector. The visit also provided students with an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the operations of regulatory institutions and their role in regulating the financial sector and enhancing its efficiency, thereby contributing to the development of students’ knowledge and the advancement of their professional skills.

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts to empower students with essential communication skills that contribute to their academic and professional development, preparing them to communicate with confidence and become effective future leaders.

دشّن عميد الكلية اليوم الاحد 18/ أكتوبر/ 2026 مبادرة «مرآتك انعكاسك»، التي أطلقتها المكتبة، وذلك بحضور عدد من أعضاء الهيئة الأكاديمية والمهتمين. وقد استعرضت الدكتورة أصيلة الهنائي أهمية المبادرة وأهدافها، ودورها في التعرّف على الموضوعات التي تحظى باهتمام الباحثين، وأنواع مصادر المعلومات التي يفضّلونها في القراءة والبحث. كما تسهم المبادرة في تمكين المكتبة من فهم احتياجات المستفيدين المعرفية، والتعرّف على مدى وعيهم بأهمية المعرفة، وأنماط استخدامهم للمصادر العلمية في الوصول إلى المعلومات. وقد أبدى عميد الكلية والحضور اهتمامهم بالمبادرة وأهدافها، مشيدين بأهميتها في تعزيز الوعي المعرفي وتطوير خدمات المكتبة، كما قدّموا مجموعة من المقترحات والأفكار التي من شأنها الإسهام في تطوير المبادرة وتوسيع أثرها مستقبلًا. The Dean of the College inaugurated the library's “Your Mirror Reflects You” initiative today. Dr. Asila Al-Hinai reviewed the initiative's importance and objectives, highlighting its role in identifying researchers' interests and the types of information sources they prefer for reading and research. The initiative also helps the library understand users' knowledge needs, assess their awareness of the importance of knowledge, and understand how they use academic resources to access information. The Dean and attendees expressed their interest in the initiative and its objectives, praising its importance in promoting knowledge awareness and developing library services. They also offered several suggestions and ideas that could help develop the initiative and expand its impact in the future

Students from the College of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University, representing the Department of Economics and Finance, participated in October Urbanism 2026 as part of an educational field visit aimed at bridging academic knowledge with practical applications. The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore the latest developments in the real estate sector, gain insights into investment opportunities, and learn about emerging trends in the Sultanate of Oman’s real estate market, contributing to the enrichment of their knowledge, the development of their skills, and a deeper understanding of the sector’s evolving landscape.

His Highness Sayyid Dr., the Vice Chancellor of the University, visited the College of Economics and Political Science. During the visit, the University’s vision, mission, and future directions were discussed. In addition, College’s Executive Committee members discussed their opinions and proposals on ways to develop academic and administrative work and enhance the College’s role in achieving the University’s goals and aspirations.

ضمن مبادرة المكتبة للمجتمع استقبلت كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية، ممثلةً بالمكتبة، يوم الثلاثاء الموافق 6 أكتوبر 2026م، دفعة جديدة من طلبة مدرسة أبو القاسم الزهراوي بولاية السيب. وكان طاقم المكتبة في استقبال الطلبة فور وصولهم بالحافلة، حيث رحّب بهم في جامعة السلطان قابوس، واصطحابهم في جولة تعريفية للتعرف على المكتبة ومرافقها والخدمات التي تقدمها. وخلال الزيارة، تعرّف الطلبة على طرق البحث عن مصادر المعلومات المختلفة والاستفادة منها، كما شاركوا في نشاط تعليمي حول طريقة صناعة الكتاب ومراحله، بهدف تعزيز ارتباطهم بالكتاب وترسيخ صورته وأهميته في أذهانهم. وقد حظيت الفعالية بتفاعل واهتمام كبيرين من الطلبة، الذين أبدوا حماسًا ومشاركةً فاعلةً في مختلف الأنشطة والفعاليات المصاحبة للزيارة. As part of the Library for the Community initiative, the College of Economics and Political Science, represented by its Library, welcomed a new group of students from Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi School in Al-Seeb on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. The library staff warmly welcomed the students upon their arrival at Sultan Qaboos University and introduced them to the library, its facilities, and the various services it provides. During the visit, the students learned about different methods of searching for and accessing information resources. They also participated in an educational activity on how books are made and the different stages of book production, helping them develop a deeper appreciation for books and keep the image and value of the book alive in their minds. The event attracted great interest and active participation from the students, who actively engaged in the various activities and demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm throughout the visit.

في إطار حرص #كلية_الاقتصاد_والعلوم_السياسية على تعزيز الوعي بالأنظمة الأكاديمية بين الطلبة، بدأ مكتب مساعد العميد للدراسات الجامعية الأولى بتقديم سلسلة من الجلسات التوعوية الفردية، تهدف إلى تعريف الطلبة بالأنظمة واللوائح الأكاديمية التي تنظم العملية التعليمية وتوضح حقوقهم وواجباتهم. نسعى هذه المبادرة إلى تمكين الطلبة من فهم متطلبات الدراسة الجامعية وتجنب حالات التعثر الأكاديمي، بما يسهم في توجيه مسيرتهم نحو النجاح والتميز، وذلك انسجامًا مع توجهات جامعة السلطان قابوس في دعم الطلبة أكاديميًا وتحسين تجربتهم التعليمية. In line with the #College_of_Economics_and_Political_Science's commitment to promoting academic awareness among students, the Office of the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies has initiated a series of individual awareness sessions. These sessions aim to familiarize students with the academic rules and regulations that define their rights and responsibilities within the university system. The initiative seeks to help students better understand academic requirements, avoid academic probation, and stay on track toward success - in alignment with Sultan Qaboos University's vision to enhance students' academic experience and support their educational journey.
