Leaving Texas with mixed emotions. We put career-best numbers on the board with a 4.038 at 311.22 mph in our Howards Cams/Competition Products Funny Car, but came up just short of a spot in Sunday’s field. Bummed we won’t be racing tomorrow, but proud of this crew for all the work they’ve put into this car. The support from everyone this weekend has been incredible, and we appreciate every bit of it! More than racing. This one is personal. I’m fortunate to live in two worlds that mean a lot to me—as a firefighter and as the driver of an NHRA Funny Car. To say we’re disappointed would be an understatement. We struggled all weekend here in St. Louis. With some big changes to the car, we came in with a lot of unknowns. We were making progress, but ultimately ran out of qualifying sessions-and luck.
