Between 150 and 200 dogs were seized by Bornova Municipality in Izmir in Turkey from their safe enclosures at the Ege University. Riot police used excessive force and brutality against the students who were trying to protect the dogs. Most of those dogs were elderly and disabled. This is Shakira and her son Felix. Felix has unhealthy over dependence on his mum, but itโs completely understandable.
He watched his mum being physically abused, including being struck with a shovel and burnt by cigarettes. Both dogs have routinely been subjected to intimidation and harassment, with objects and rubbish being thrown at them.
Shakira has been Felixโs entire world since birth, and he has learned to rely on her for reassurance and guidance. Because of his early experiences and lifelong dependence on his mother, Felix's emotional development has been affected.

In the end, I had to pay to get towed home.
