(I'm holding onto this property, but not forwarding mail. If you're local, you know how to find me.)
Hey (West) Anchorage, 1 month left in 2024 ... that means 1 more constituent coffee!
Join me Friday 12/6, 4 to 5pm at Writer's Block on Spenard Rd.
Let's talk about Anchorage!

Over the past year, three Anchorage, AK Assembly members — including Anna Brawley, AICP, (@spurnagain) an urban planner — worked hard to overcome NIMBY attitudes to pass the city’s boldest zoning overhaul: plnn.org/3AyDx8N
As someone who cares deeply about Alaska's future (and works to ensure that includes a strong Anchorage!), I am heartened by & excited to work with incoming AK House & Senate coalition majorities. Working together to solve real problems is the way.
West Anchorage friends & residents: my next constituent coffee is Saturday, Nov 9, 9:30 to 11am @ Kaladi Bros on Jewel Lake Rd. ☕ Come on over, let's talk city business!
This morning I did my two favorite AK Election Day traditions: voting at my local precinct & waving signs to support my friends and colleagues running for office!
Don't forget to VOTE by 8 PM, make your voice heard! 🗳️🇺🇸
Anchorage is ahead of the curve on pro-housing changes, like ending single-family zoning! Read about how it happened in the last @APA_Planning article!

Well, the snow has arrived (with an extra helping piled onto West Anchorage's plate!) ... But so has the Muni's plowing fleet!
New this year: a one-stop shop for MOA snow operations, including real-time updates, for both roads & sidewalks. Link: muni.org/snow ❄️
Happy Early Voting, Day 1!
I was at City Hall for other business, but the lobby was full of eager voters waiting to cast ballots & exercise their rights. 🗳️
AK Division of Elections has a list of locations, which includes City Hall Downtown (w/ ballots for all 40 districts)!
Early voting for the November 5, 2024 General election started today! Find locations here: elections.alaska.gov/avo/.
Riding the morning bus with your backpack & lunch bag: not just for students!
@ancpeoplemover helped me keep 1 car off the road & 1 less parking spot downtown as we welcome AFN today & Friday. What a great start to the morning ❤️ 🚌

Anchorage is a housing pro, just imagine what we can do with more resources!
The MOA is applying for a HUD PRO (Pathways to Removing Obstacles) Housing grant - public comment on our ideas open thru Thu 10/10. Attend a public hearing & testify on Mon 10/7 6pm @ Loussac Library.
The idea:
MOA & partners use $7 million grant for innovative modular small housing tech, build & rigorously test prototypes in northern climate. (Next-gen pre-fab panels, made by Mat Su firm).
& Mini grants to upgrade water/sewer connections for 4 plexes. muni.org/Departments/health/…
