You know you’re on the wrong side of history when you’re making fun of a marginalized group, going against hundreds of thousands of studies, and your own health depts recommendations about wearing masks.
It was inspiring to attend a #MasksRequired Disability Justice panel at Netroots Nation this weekend. @SFdirewolf moderated a discussion with @MattMcGorry, @the_tattooedjew, and Dr. Sami Schalk.
A key theme that resonated was the challenge of promoting COVID awareness and disability justice among progressive and academic organizations hostile or dismissive toward these topics.
Since masks were required and young activists were encouraged, I got to bring my 7 year old for his first conference talk.
