A former UN official just said what the world needed to hear.
Alice Jill Edwards served as the UN's Independent Expert on torture from 2022 to 2026. She spent her career defending Palestinian refugees, led proceedings before Europe's highest court to protect them.
And yet, in a bombshell opinion piece in Britain's Daily Telegraph, she accuses two of her most prominent UN colleagues - Francesca Albanese, the UN rapporteur on Palestinian territories, and Reem Alsalem, the UN rapporteur on violence against women - of deliberately ignoring Hamas's sexual violence on October 7, 2023, calling their conduct one-sided, politically motivated, and a betrayal of the victims.
"They never formally documented these horrors, despite the growing body of evidence which to most of us is indisputable, but which they dispute."
She also takes direct aim at UN Secretary-General António Guterres, saying he has "failed to carry out the original mandate of the UN" and adopted a "fatalistic posture" while wars rage around the world.
When Edwards published her own report on October 7, only one other UN special rapporteur agreed to sign it. Others refused. Some tried to have material removed entirely. This is not coming from Israel. This is coming from inside the UN itself.

The sheer stupidity of Western leaders like @EmmanuelMacron recognizing a fictitious state — with no agreed borders, no territorial integrity, no political cohesion, and no sovereignty — as a reward for a massive terrorist attack and decades of Palestinian rejectionism. While Israel is holding democratic elections, Palestinian leaders are cancelling theirs for the umpteenth time, reneging on their promise to France. And why not? France is weak anyway.
