What I see from this math is that seed valuations and fund size matter A LOT. When the seed valuation is $52m and your fund is $675m, then a ~1B exit for 9x return on a $20m investment is not only NOT a career-defining win, it's not even really a win
Replying to @ericmreiner
3) Assuming the $1.3b purchase price was pure cash / stock (i.e. no earn out or similar), that would suggest a $175m return for Lux. A slam dunk on a roughly $20m investment.

EXCLUSIVE - DOJ twice axed plans to investigate Trump link to Jan 6 and Trump-led effort to steal 2020 election. It resulted in premier law enforcement agency not investigating his attack on democracy for more than a year. Me & ⁦@byaaroncdavis⁩ washingtonpost.com/investiga…

This is both a shocking indictment of DOJ, which was as obsessed with neutrality as its harshest critics feared, and spectacular proof of the ability of politicians to use publicity and pressure to spur events forward
“One person familiar w/the department’s new interest in the case said it felt as though (Justice) was reacting to the House committee’s work as well as heightened media coverage.”Only after they were embarrassed did they start looking,” the person said washingtonpost.com/investiga…

Right after Elon Musk hosted Ron DeSantis on Twitter for his presidential announcement, DeSantis signed a bill shielding SpaceX from liability if workers are killed from his rockets blowing up. SpaceX lobbied state officials at least 5 times for the bill. newrepublic.com/post/173040/…

Basic problem here is that Dems have spent years trying to carefully avoiding any group that seems unpopular and now can’t bring themselves to say “It’s bad to choke to death a homeless guy yelling on the subway” since they feel like that aligns them with homeless guys.
Here’s what New York Governor Kathy Hochul told Spectrum NY1 after Jordan Neely was killed on the subway. “There’s consequences for behavior.” It appears she meant the *victim’s* behavior.

I’ve seen the eye doctor yearly since I was 7-years-old—I had no issues beyond nearsightedness. I’ve had Covid twice since 2020, & now I have Meibomian gland dysfunction & optic neuritis. A family member now has myriad eye complications. Friends have new eye diagnoses. Thread:

I fact-checked Tesla's 2019 "Impact Report" and found it incredibly misleading, on a wide variety of points. It's frustrating because this should be one area where Tesla cruises to easy industry leadership. Instead they lie and cheapen their "mission": thedrive.com/tech/27484/fact…
