Bishop Richard’s Reflections – 04/22/25 ‘Pope by Committee’ The old saying, “In the lack of true leadership, committees are formed”, has come to fruition at the Vatican. The Church has had ‘Pope by Committee’ for a couple of years now because of Francis’ physical infirmities. First it was Francis’ sciatica that placed him a wheelchair over two years ago, and then it was respiratory issues as a result of bronchitis and pneumonia that had caused him to be on bedrest since mid-February. In fact, Francis had not said a public Mass in over two-years, but had sat on the sidelines and watched different Cardinals from his Curia be the main celebrants. This was very evident last week during Holy Week Masses and services. Each day a different Cardinal would Officiate, with Francis making a short appearance at the end, and only saying a few words, to show that he was still alive. While he was alive, he certainly was not in charge. It is fair to conclude that the Vatican had been run by ‘insider Cardinals’ for the last two months, and perhaps longer. The problem is that those Cardinals are all vying for position to be the front-runner in the upcoming Conclave; so their motives were questionable at best, and evil at worst. Many were simply using this as an opportunity to campaign in front of the television cameras for their fellow Cardinal-electors. There is also indeed a “Deep Church” of Vatican clerics who are trying to expand upon Francis’ Liberal-Socialist-Globalist, indeed anti-Catholic, agenda. They are mostly Italian Cardinals and Bishops who are in league with the Leftist of European politics and the Democrat Party in the United States. They are in favor of the Woke, pro-homosexual, pro-same-sex, pro-population control, pro-elitist platforms that the voters in Europe and the United States are rejecting in their political leaderships. Yet, these seem to be the most papable prelates; at least according to the Liberal mainstream-media. The Cardinals that were ‘invited’ by Francis to participate in his Synod on Synodality over the last couple of years are the worst offenders. They are the most Liberal-Socialist, anti-traditionalists in the Roman Catholic Church since the Reformation. They want to radically transform the Church into a worldwide social-services agency that is so far off-the-rails that it could not even be considered Christian any longer. Now that Francis has died, watch to see which Cardinals are making frequent headlines in the media? Which ones are ‘representing’ Francis’ Liberal policies? Which ones are holding press conferences? Which ones are getting a photo-ops? These are the usual-suspects. Now that Francis is finally gone, and a new Pope is soon to be elected, these current ‘committee members’ may well be the power behind the Conclave, and then the power behind throne. If that happens, the Church will fracture, and the papacy as has been known for centuries may well end forever; and a Communist-like ‘Central Committee’ will rule.
