Dragon D1, the first SpaceX cargo vehicle, photographed on approach to the ISS as we orbited great thunderstorms. This spacecraft required manual berthing with the robotic arm as it could not autonomously dock! The design has come a long way in 14 years!

A few days ago, as the International Space Station passed over the greater Montreal area, @astro_kutryk captured these incredible views from space! 🚀 And look what we spotted... the Canadian Space Agency’s headquarters! 🇨🇦
Fascinating: superhabitable worlds.

Love this as it brings back a flood of exciting memories and visuals for me. Definitely miss the short time I spent in the Moon’s sphere of influence! Huge props to our amazing science team for getting more data out to the masses!
A huge library of Artemis II data just dropped! Science is a relay race, and today marks the latest in a long series of handoffs. 814 GB of observations. 996 new images. 521 min of never-before-released crew audio.

Margaret Hamilton has died. Absolute legend, it was my honour to meet her and have a conversation with her just a few years ago, super nice and still sharp. Ave atque vale Margaret.
We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

What did four astronauts see, notice, and document as they traveled around the Moon during NASA’s Artemis II mission? Through photographs, spoken observations, drawings, and annotations, the Artemis II crew created a unique scientific record — one that is now available to the science community and the public for further study.

Perspective: Only 12 years separated Sputnik from Apollo 11:
1957 1st satellite
1961 1st human in orbit
1962 1st active communication satellite
1965 1st spacewalk
1968 Apollo 8 around the Moon
1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing
More than 3000 satellites have been launched into orbit so far just in 2026, but let's go back to the first.
On this day in 1957, a new chapter in the technological and scientific history of our planet began with the launch of Sputnik I.
