There isn't a sports figure who shaped my fandom at a very formative age more than Bob Huggins. And there are no teams I've ever been as emotionally invested in as the Bearcats teams he coached. Prayers and best wishes to Bob and his family.

being married is funny because you'll be chilling, having a bowl of cereal, and your wife will say i hate these bowls, don't you? and you'll shrug becuase you don't care and she'll say i do, they've bothered me for a while now. we need new bowls. and you'll shrug again because you have honestly, not once, ever considered the bowls at all then a few days later there will be all new bowls in the kitchen. and you'll be eating the same cereal in a different bowl, chilling, and she'll say i love these new bowls and you'll shrug again because you still don't care but she's happier and the cereal is still good and you didn't do anything at all

bro ain’t got time to review PRs
I just declared a moratorium against AI-written change descriptions (e.g. PR and commit messages, also issues/tickets) from my team. AI was writing change descriptions that were worse than useless to me as I tried to review PRs: outlining details of the code that could easily be seen by looking at the code, but omitting the higher-level framing needed to understand broadly what the code is doing. I think people like having AI write these things because the output looks structured and thorough, which makes it feel professional in a way. But this isn't actually valuable. Concise, high-level descriptions are better for everyone. If I need to use my own AI to interpret what your AI wrote then something is wrong. Let AI write code, sure, but for the description, I'd rather see your prompt than your output. We could maybe have extended agents.md with guidelines on writing descriptions, but this seemed a bit pointless since a good, concise change description only takes a few minutes to write -- not a significant time savings to delegate to AI. At least, it doesn't take long if you understand the code -- and if you don't understand the code, then I'm definitely not merging it.

Doesn’t matter nobody writes code anymore.
If I open your codebase, I can usually tell within a few minutes whether you’re still thinking like a beginner or you’re starting to think like an engineer. Here are common coding habits that make code harder to scale and the better alternatives.

Learn to ship. Shipping is a skill distinct from coding. Shipping is designing, coding, QAing, story-telling, teaching, marketing, selling, pivoting, iterating… It used to be that coding dominated in importance because of coding ability scarcity. AI will push you to go further.

A harsh reality about the career ladder: You’re never gonna make as many great work friends as you do in your first job or two. Those first 5ish years of careers are special for making friends. You and your pals at work, green & eager (or getting destroyed by work loads and real life responsibilities). Spending your first paychecks on cocktails and dinners you probably can’t actually afford. Complaining about your bosses together. First apartments filled with ikea furniture. Racing when the “extra pizza from the meeting is in the conference room” email goes out. I was at my first agency for 5 years (a lifetime for an agency job), and absolutely loved it. Made many lifelong friends at that gig. Then when I started wanting more money and more responsibility, I started intentionally hopping around—went from $80k to $220k in just 4 years, worked on some major brands, built a strong rep as a leader in social—but as I got older, entered management roles, and spent less time at jobs, I never really did have the same camaraderie as that first job. Really cherish those years as a 20something, learning life & work. It’s a special time.

Accurate
I think millennials are the real AI sweet spot. Digital natives with just enough experience to prompt well and sanity-check the output. Gen Z is too inexperienced and trusts AI like it’s gospel. Gen X is trying to make it to retirement without learning another interface. Boomers are still googling how to convert a pdf.
