Tested on MBP 15” 2017 / macOS 12.3 with grep 2.6.0 vs. @rustlang ripgrep 13.0.0 against the google/fonts ofl directory catalog:
$ /usr/bin/time -p grep ‘fpgm’ */*.ttf
$ /usr/bin/time -p rg ‘fpgm’ */*.ttf
grep (real): 46.9 sec
ripgrep (real): 0.21 sec
