Trump won among all men <65 who voted. Even 49% of men 18-29 voted Trump, indicating a right-turn among young males. Many are posting this kind of stuff. "Your body my choice" is their main victory cry. Violation is their cri de coeur, their bid for a small share in mastery.

The key lesson of the Trump victory for us is that Labour has to deliver the significant improvement in quality of life that people can feel or we face the rise of right wing populism that has swept America. Half measures won’t be enough.

Trump won for the same reasons that the far right often do. He offers simple lies to complex questions and promises national palingenesis. Most importantly he provides scapegoats for concerns about the state of their lives. You can't beat the far right by offering the status quo.
