Our connection to Rwanda lives in the people we care about and in what we can build together. Through #SolidDiasporaConnect, we’re inviting Rwandans and friends of Rwanda abroad to help build public nutrition infrastructure rooted in care, dignity and access to nutritious meals. This past weekend, our Diaspora Engagement Lead, Adeline, represented us at the Rwanda Convention Conference in Ottawa, held under the theme “Our Heritage, Our Bridge: Celebrating and Building Rwanda Together.” She moderated a Q&A with Senator Evode and delivered a presentation on our Farm-to-Plate model, highlighting how the diaspora can help strengthen public nutrition systems in Rwanda through their networks, expertise, advocacy and giving. The convention also marked a meaningful step in our partnership with RCA. Adeline received a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding on our behalf, setting out a framework for collaboration and continued diaspora engagement. Thank you to RCA and everyone who joined the conversation. The invitation extends beyond the convention: bring your ideas, connect your community and partner with us to strengthen public nutrition systems in Rwanda. We are Solid Together. #SolidDiasporaConnect #GiftAMealThatHeals #WeAreSolidTogether

"Those would be the notes saving Keza that day." Dr Ange Thania Ndizeye's careful record-keeping helped save a mother's life, and the baby now carries Ange's name. A moving story about why strong health systems, and the people behind them, matter. #MaternalHealth #Goalkeepers2026

Tour our Centralised Clean Energy School Kitchen in Bujyujyu, Rwamagana. Launched in April, this is Solid’Africa’s first Centralised Clean Energy School Kitchen, powered by both solar energy and the grid. The hybrid model supports our clean energy agenda while helping lower the cost per meal and enable scale. The kitchen serves close to 15,000 students across five public schools, with its proximity enabling efficient preparation and timely delivery of meals. As part of our Farm-to-Plate model, the school gardens provide fresh produce for meals while creating opportunities for students to learn about nutrition, food production and where their food comes from. Regenerative Agriculture, Clean energy, nutrition, education and local production, working together to build stronger food and nutrition systems. #Centralized #CleanEnergy #SchoolKitchen #FarmToPlate #NutritionSystems

Conversations at #AFSF2026 @TheAGRF reinforced the potential of centralized kitchens to connect better nutrition, local farmers, clean energy and more efficient public service delivery. But sustainable scale requires more: strong procurement, resilient supply chains, financing, data and cross-sector partnerships. We recognize the leadership of @Rwanda_Edu Rwanda’s Ministry of Education in advancing school nutrition and are grateful to The @RockefellerFdn and our partners for supporting the evidence, partnerships and systems needed to take this work further. #FarmToPlate #SchoolNutrition #NutritionSecurity #CentralizedKitchens

As delegates gather in Kigali this week for the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) 2026, we had the opportunity to bring some of those conversations to life. On 31 August, we welcomed MINAGRI and AFSF delegates to experience Solid’Africa’s Farm-to-Plate model — from our Centre of Excellence for Regenerative Agriculture, Rugende Farm, where they explored our sustainable agriculture practices and joined in harvesting fresh vegetables, to our 1st Centralized School Kitchen in Bujyujyu, and finally to CHUK, where they toured our hospital kitchen and participated in serving nutritious meals to patients. The journey offered a firsthand look at the system we are building - connecting sustainable agriculture and local sourcing to nutritious meals for students in public schools and patients in public hospitals. As #AFSF2026 continues, we’re delighted to contribute to the conversation on building food and nutrition systems that nourish at scale and strengthen public systems. At AFSF tomorrow? Come meet the Solid’Africa team at The Rockefeller Foundation booth and discover more about our Farm-to-Plate model and the Public Nutrition Infrastructure we are building. We’d love to connect! #AFSF2026 #FarmToPlate #FoodSystems #PublicNutrition #SustainableAgriculture

Caring can be as simple as showing up. A group of @alueducation students and friends led by Francesca recently joined us at CHUK to volunteer and put that simple idea into action. Through their visit, they donated 186 nutritious meals, clothing and other essential items to support patients. They also joined our team in serving meals across the hospital wards - turning compassion into meaningful action. Their contribution reminds us that making a difference does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it simply means giving what you can, volunteering your time and being present for others. You, too, can be part of our #WeAreSolidTogether campaign. A donation of just 1,000 RWF provides a patient with three nutritious meals for a full day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sixteen-year-old Louise Izere has become the first known #Rwandan to reach the North Pole after completing a 10-day scientific and educational expedition aboard a nuclear-powered icebreaker. • Izere, a #Rwanda Coding Academy student, was among young people from 22 countries selected for the expedition from about 5,000 applicants. • The journey took participants from Murmansk, Russia, to the North Pole and Franz Josef Land, combining Arctic exploration with hands-on science and technology activities. • During the expedition, participants worked with scientists and took part in experiments involving Arctic communications, aerospace technology, and nuclear technologies. • Izere said the experience inspired her to dream bigger about her future and showed her that science can open opportunities to explore places once thought impossibly far away. *Visitor Spotlight* On Friday, 31 July 2026, we welcomed Members of the Rwanda Parliament and Senators under the Rwanda Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (RPRPD) during their field visit to clean cooking and renewable energy initiatives in Rwamagana District. From locally grown produce sourced from farmers to meals prepared using clean energy, the Bujyujyu Kitchen demonstrates how sustainable food systems and renewable energy can work together. Today, the kitchen supports school feeding for over 15,000 students across five schools in Rwamagana District and provides employment opportunities for more than 19 staff members. The visit, organized in partnership with the Climate Parliament and UNIDO Rwanda, highlighted the role of green investment, clean cooking innovation, and renewable energy in advancing job creation, climate action, and sustainable community development. #FarmToPlate #CleanCooking #RenewableEnergy #GreenInvestment #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment

15 years ago, a simple act of compassion became a movement. What started with just a few meals has grown into over 12 million meals served to patients and students, partnerships with more than 7,000 farmers, and nutritious meals reaching 30,000 children in public schools every day. Every milestone has been made possible by people who believed in the mission. We come together to celebrate 15 years of impact, resilience, and the journey ahead. The story continues. ❤️ Stay tuned. #15YearsAndBeyond #SolidTogether #NutritionForAll

A huge thanks to @GHA_rwanda for their successful volunteer work day! 🌱💚 The students volunteered their time, helping with harvesting, peeling, and washing fresh produce, assisting in meal service to hospital patients, and offering amazing donations of basic necessities like sanitary products, soaps, toothbrushes, clothes, and more to brighten their day. 🙌 We’re so grateful for their incredible dedication!
