“Gender dysphoria” only sets in once you learn about the term, before that it’s called “being horny.” GD is a diagnosis that medicalizes the fetish. Vast majority of trans women transition for erotic reasons but won’t admit it. Calling it “gender dysphoria” instead of “wearing panties makes my dick hard” gives you a socially acceptable excuse to indulge in cross dressing publicly. A lot of these people also get off on exhibitionism and humiliation. Honestly the vast majority of these guys would be a million times better off just cross dressing privately for sexual kinks and leaving it at that. The problem is the “symptoms” of gender dysphoria are so vague it’s very easy to look back over your life, cherry pick a few memories, then rewrite history as “I’ve always been in the wrong body.” Most of the time I think that men transition because they’re jealous of women. They resent women for being beautiful and the way they are treated in social situations. This jealousy turns into misogyny, and sometimes into transgenderism. FTM is similar. Women are bombarded with instagram posts and media with extremely perfectly “sexy” bodies and are told this is the standard to be a woman. Because they’re insecure, alienated, and disconnected from their body due to the commodification of the female form by our consumeristic society, they naturally feel dehumanized. They mistake this dehumanization as an intrinsic part of being a woman, and think, well, if I was a man, I wouldn’t be held to these standards. And so body-image and self-esteem issues get transformed into “gender dysphoria.” Ultimately both of these phenomena are caused by how our culture commodifies the female form and body.
